howdoitknow
Fairview: 42 Stewart County: 21 The Rebels must control the football with their running game, #20 Eaton & #22 Young, and keep the Yellow Jackets high powered offense off of the field. For the second consecutive year the Rebels have lost their final 2 games and limp into the playoffs. Last year it got ugly in a hurry against Milan and this year it could be the same way if they don't play "ball control" offense.
ksgovols
Fairview's got way too much horsepower for Stewart County. 35-

THE REBELS ARE IN LIMPING OR NOT.MANY ARE PRACTICING BASKETBALL.CONSIDERING THE ADVERSITY THAT OUR KIDS ENDURED WIYH THE LOSS OF A TEAMMATE THIS YEAR ,WE ARE VERY PROUD TO BE HERE AND WILL PLAY HARD COME FRIDAY!! ksgovols
Prediction? Nobody said they didn't deserve to be in......yet. Well, half of the teams that are in don't deserve to be in. 6-4 and a winning record in your district should be the minimum requirement. You got in under the rules as they apply. Harpeth trades Fairview and Jo Byrns for their out of district losses for McEwen and Houston County and they're going and you're staying at home. Cheatham played Smith County and Greenbrier and are staying home. I don't blame Stewart County for scheduling themselves into the playoffs. Montgomery Central did much the same and Waverly tried. I blame the TSSAA who sets the rules so that they can get mud on their face. There has to be a strength of schedule component that separates the teams that are beating up on patsies to get their 4 or 5 wins. On the other hand, it's a good fundraiser and when is the last time that a 4 seed or lower won state?
Gerry Bertier
On the other hand, it's a good fundraiser and when is the last time that a 4 seed or lower won state? Livingston Academy did back in the old system as a 4 seed. They were 5-5.
ksgovols
Ok, when we were sending 48 teams total instead of 104 publics and however many privates. A 4 seed ain't what it used to be. If we're going to do fundraisers, then send half as many to the playoffs and reinstitute the old high school bowl system for the 5-5's and 4-6's of the state. Same money, half the time. I said that Stewart limped into the playoffs. I never said they didn't deserve to be in the playoffs. Stewart is 5-5. Cheatham is 4-6. Waverly is 4-6. Harpeth is 3-7. Stewart deserves to be in the playoffs. Coach Holliday has done a remarkable job in Dover leading the Rebels to the playoffs 4 consecutive seasons. Hoganknows
Playoff setup is awful and an embarrassment to high school football...with that said, on to the botched playoffs and good luck Fairview.
Gerry Bertier
First off, hats off to Stewart Co. They came out and played their hearts out tonight at Fairview. Even though they lost 35-21. They played what looked like thier best game of the season. Fairview seemed to overlook the Rebels, and you can never overlook a team in November. Let me say #10 from Stewart Co. is the best defensive player Fairview has seen all season. He is a stud. He should be proud of his effort and the way he represented his school. Hope the folks from Dover had a safe trip home.
