Well, unlike Blackman, Franklin has a balanced team that doesn't rely on one single player. You could injure anyone on our team (excluding our quarterback; we have one backup who isn't that good) and we will barely even change.

I agree Franklin had a balanced team Zero Offense and Zero defense.

first...congrads to a great season by franklin...you made it past where anyone gave you a chance to...it's always hard to see tears in the eyes of the seniors after their last game...class team and parents there on the field after the game!

i will not rub it in...i don't roll that way...98% of franklin's posters this week on this thread were also class acts...having fun...and talking about the game...but there are a couple of posters who i will have to circle back around to and poke a little...can you guess who???

what happened tonight was what i had tried to say might would happen on several different occasions...the defense is something that yall had not seen anything like it all year...the blitz's were like packs of wild dogs...8 sacks...and i knew you could not run it...and the run game for blackman is just at another level right now...Mr. Mathers 10 carries for 203 yards in 1st half...then he goes out with a migraine for nearly the whole 2nd quarter and then on his first play back bust another run for 51 yards......i tried to say that rarely do you see a back like him...but while he was out...his little brother scores two TD's and our QB hits a 40 yard pass...let the 1 man team stuff END tonight...and what about the DB's...they played lights out...WE ARE HOT RIGHT NOW...that is for sure!

this team is a legitimate contender...and personally i think the best two teams in the state will play next friday in the smyrna vs. blackman game...

congrads again on a great season franklin...and thumbs up to the big crowd you brought!

Don't be a total #### here. I agree your Blackman is an insanely good team with a good amount of steroids. The running back is very talented, as everyone knows. Also Franklin played a horrible game, never seen them this bad in the whole season.

Steroids? Get real. Simple fact. The Rebel were riding high over confident. Thought beating an injured Oakland team has the top of the mountian. Plain facts - Franklin was slow, weak, no game plan and the QB could not hit a target from being flat on his back. It was no surprise to anyone in the entire crowd that #4 (Mr. Football) was going to get the ball. One, two, three.......times in a row and STILL the Rebels could not stop him. How about all those eggs in one basket.

Check out the Daily News Journal from SPORTS - High School 2010, Every time a coach is quoted after losing to Blackman they say "We played horrible have not played this bad all season, need to work on things". FACT Great teams can make average teams look horrible.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
