Returning State Medalists

Michael Kennedy & Eric Feuerbacher, Blackman

Johnathon Birdwell, Cookeville

Scott Boykin, Riverdale

Scott Seaman, Mt. Juliet

Others to Watch

Alex Kaferle, Justin Garner, Dillon Crouch, Luke Frederick - Tullahoma

Adam Wells, Blackman

Sean Bowling, Dalton Satterfield - Cookeville

Matt Seaman, Tanner Bates, Blake Biggs - MJ

DB Frazer, Jacob Belcher - Wilson Central

Kiefer Hummeldorf, Lavergne

David Hayes, Chase Pennycuff – Siegel

Sam Underwood, Eagleville

Maybe some unknown incoming freshman (& possibly an 8th grade beast at Eagleville) in the lower weights.

Teams – Cookeville lost a ton of talent but will still be strong and has great coaches. Mj is my early favorite to win the duals and individual region. Tullahoma, Blackman will be good (wish Brunner was still at Tully but good luck to him at TBSFBAG). Siegel has a large bunch (around 60 on the team) and good seniors but they have to produce. I expect 8 to 10 medals for Region V.

Teams to Watch:

Mt. Juliet

Cookeville

Blackman

Tullahoma

Smyrna will be better this year under the tutilage of Coach Gonyea

Eagleville is another up and coming program

Wrestlers:

Mt. Juliet: Blake Biggs, Scott Seaman, Matt Seaman, and Tanner Bates should all compete for state placement. Eric Whitmire should make State again.

Wilson Central: Nick Insalaco is the only returning State Qualifier

Cookeville: Dalton Satterfield, Jonathan Birdwell, Sean Bowling, Chris Epperson, Jesse Chapman will lead the team to another strong Region finish, but losing Henry, Proctor, and Salada may hurt overall team scores in duals vs. Blackman/Mt. Juliet

Riverdale: Scottie Boykin has what it takes to win State as a Sophomore. Placed 6th at 171 as Freshman. Michael Ramirez will be tough

Eagleville: Parker Pennington, Joseph Pennington, Blake Solomon, Colton Key, Ryan Hammonds and Hayden Hammonds (8th grade)

Tullahoma: Luke Frederick (should place), Alex Kaferle, Justin Garner, Dillon Crouch

Siegel: Chase Pennycuff should place. Blake Grant, Colby Rasavong, Garrett Froula, David Hayes all have a shot.

Blackman: Michael Kennedy, Adam Wells, Eric Feuerbacher, and Graham Smith should all place high in State and have legitimate shots at a State Title. Andrew Rice, Ryan Nell, Tristan Rush, and Drew Heath will do well this season as well.

Franklin County: Timothy Mullins

LaVergne: Kiefer Hummeldorf

Lebanon: Patrick Sloan, Justin Abernathy

We must have been typing this at the same time StarRaider! Glad to see we have a lot of the same picks! Good to know Wilson Central will have a few I didn't know about.

Ha I trust your eye for talent more than mine!

What happened to Frazer? I thought he was a freshman last year.

which school has the best freshmen group

The group of freshmen at Blackman this year is similar in size and talent to the group that Blackman had several years ago. When you put LeGrande Sommers and Tristan Rush along with the freshmen and Senior 7 together the Blaze look loaded for dual meets. No holes anywhere in the lineup.

If the Blaze are infact loaded this year then mark our calendars for December 7. My calendar shows a quad at Franklin High with the following teams scheduled: Blackman, Clarksville, Father Ryan and Franklin. There should be some very good wrestling going on that night if all these teams faceoff.

Wow, that has to be one of the toughest quads all year.I haven't seen Blackman's schedule yet so I hope that's on there.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
