if the decision to change the venue goes through, you can bet that i will pen a very strong letter as well as call every number i and many others can find to voice our disapproval of such an action. Trezevant has earned the right to host this game. it has already been announced statewide that they would be hosting, and myself and several family and friends will be attending this game. it is, without a doubt, the biggest game in the history of the Trezevant football program. they have earned the right to play it at home, and now, all for the ALMIGHTY dollar, the TSSAA wants to strip a very worthy team of a home game in front of their fans.

I hope that MCS (Memphis City Schools) have the mindset to keep the game in Memphis for all the city fans. this game will be a great one for this school.

Coach Teli White has taken this program to heights not seen in this community in decades. They have earned this game at home.

I am a diehard Lexington fan but I agree with you. Trezant should be allowed to host this game. We have hosted 3 rounds and we would have been highly upset if they have moved our games to the opposing schools location. Let's just play ball and the fans will come! Good luck to both teams!

It would be a shame to allow money to move the game at this point. Trezevant earned their right to play this game at home. It is true that Lexington would put more fans in the seat if at home but those kids at Trezevant play hard. In a community that is starving for positive news stories, it would be a shame if they took this positive story of Trezevant at home in the semifinals versus a very good and worthy Lexington team away from them.

As far as the dirty play comment by the DHS fan...really? Did you see them play? I have a couple of times this year and they play hard and fast.....no dirtier than DHS or any other team.

Let the game be played where it should be and good luck to both teams!!!

No official word yet. I would say it needs to be worked out by tuesday or it will need to stay in Memphis.

I don't see it happening now. The only reason I wanted it to was for purely selfish reasons. Doubt I can pull off making it to Memphis for the game.

Time to call Brantley charter, get every bus they have, and take the entire city to Memphis!

As far as stripping the game from "all the city fans", nowhere near as many high school football fans would go to the game in Memphis as will go to the Lexington game. Safer area, central West Tennessee, and not to mention Big Red Fans will PACK the stadium full! I'd say move it.

so what that Lexington could pack in more fans than trezevant? that has NOTHING to do with who should host this game.....NOTHING. As far as being "safer", there is probably not a much safer stadium in Memphis than Greenhill. It is right next door to the police academy. I have been going to football and track and field events to that stadium for years and have not seen any more violence inside or outside of the stadium than what i have witnessed at some of the games i have attended in other counties. If you want to find trouble, regardless of where you are, you can and will find it, even in "central west Tennessee".

I know most of the kids on that team. They are hard-nosed athletes. they work their butts off for Coach White. Someone on this thread mentioned that they play a little bit dirty........i doubt seriously that person has even seen them play before.

I can't wait to see the Trezevant Mighty Bears in action on Friday.....AT OUR HOUSE!!! GO BEARS!!!

You do realize your own coach was ok with this game being in Lexington because he knew he would get a lot more money from it, right? Might want to talk to him first if you have problems with it ever being discussed and getting as far as it did. The TSSAA wasn't trying to force this down anyone's throat.

This is probably the first time in the history of man a Memphis school hasn't followed what could get them more money.

The game will be in Memphis. Several at Trezevant wanted the game moved because of the money they would make from a much bigger gate at Lexington that would go a long ways towards helping their program. But, some of the higher ups in the Memphis School system simply wouldn't let it happen. The TSSAA said for the two schools to work out who would host, they weren't forcing anything on anyone. They didn't care because they would get their part of the money anyways.

well, acutally, the decision was with the administration at the school and the district, not the coach.

yes, T-High needs the money. you ever been there? he gets more out of less than probably anyone in the state, in terms of finances. The program is starved for funding. their equipment is far less than what other programs have, as well as their facilities. You will not find a better man in terms of someone to lead these kids than White.

But, i can tell you this - those kids are thrilled at the chance to play at home for this game. It is great for the program and the community to have this team playing at home....regardless of the money.

it is good to have good news about Trezevant, than in years' past with bad news.

You can probably rest assure the coach was fine with playing this game on the road. Just don't think this is something the TSSAA is coming in strongarming people trying to make happen.

No doubt if I were in your shoes I would be excited as well, as should your players and the community. Like I said, the only reason I wanted it in Lexington is because I have to drive about 4 hours for the game and can't convince myself to drive the 6 and then turn around and drive back Saturday.
