Cookeville Cavs played probably their best game of the season tonight. Beat Sparta by 22 pts, 64-42.

 

Played half the third and all the 4th quarter without Phillip Roper, who hit the court hard and didn't return. Not exactly sure what his injury was but hope he has a speedy recovery.

Wow !! I guess this just shows that, this district is far from being settled !!!! Cookeville has been playing better basketball of late.

Wow !! I guess this just shows that, this district is far from being settled !!!! Cookeville has been playing better basketball of late.

 

Yep, played much better the last 3 games. We'll see if they can go get a road win at Crossville on Tuesday. If they play like they did last night I like their chances. Even without Roper...

from what I hear you are exactly right!! Looks like coach would make adjustments based on talent level?? I don't know maybe I'm wrong. But from what I hear fans and players are frustrated. By the way I again with you about the district change.

If you want to play street ball, yeah we don't have the athletes. Teams with discipline and that play in control give them fits. The boys play hard and try their best for the style they are asked to play. Wild play causes turnovers and turnovers causes losses!

your exactly right Nitro well said!!!! And from what I hear the huge number of turnovers kills the Pioneers. I know its got to be frustrating for players and everyone. I know one parent who has a son that plays and her son and her and her husband are extremely frustrated as I'm sure they all are.

All I'm gonna say is WC's coach is NOT impressive. He leaves players in the game that causes turnover after turnover and takes outs or doesn't play the ones that are halfway talented and contribute. Seems to me coach is finding ways to lose instead of finding ways to win. Maybe he will be gone after one more year. WC people need to be careful what they wish for. Oh and for the record I'm not related to anyone on the team or the prior coaches. Just an observation thats all. I'm interested in others opinions as well.

      And that needs to go, Charter ,private ,magnet,city and any school that operates differently than pure public schools should be separated. What really needs to be done is address urban and rural. About all the usual powers have access to several kids from other schools period.

      Slightly off topic from a gender standpoint but just observed several boys volleyball games in the Knoxville area for a short spring season. The guys seemed to have a great time. There were several club players on each team but several football, basketball and tennis players involved. Knoxville Catholic, Maryville, Heritage, Knoxville West maybe William Blount had teams. Thanks to Coach Brent Carter from Knoxville Catholic/K2 for getting it together. I’m sure the coaches involved got several laughs trying to coach guys that really had no idea what they were talking about but pretty athletic and competitive. Catholic’s best basketball player told the coach he had played a lot of 2:3 and 1:3:1 but never a 3:3 LOL Maybe it will catch on with some more schools next year.
