The one in the class A game may have been the worst I have seen in a State Tourney in my 30 plus years. TSSAA has to do some thing about the selection process or should I say the "good old boy/girl" process!!!!!

I totally agree!!! Everybody makes mistakes, but when OBVIOUS wrong calls(or no calls) keep adding up, something smells fishy! No way should this be allowed to happen in any game but especially in the state tournament. When a player goes out of bounds with the ball and her team gets the ball back more than once..........when players keep hard body contact on players they are guarding all game long with and the other team doesn't even shoot a bonus free throw, not to mention walks, & others it looks very suspicious. When a player continously gets ran over without a foul call in all 4 quarters, no wonder they can't keep their head up. I hear this particular one has major connections which is the ONLY reason she was allowed to screw up a tournament. It's all on video if TSSAA cares to watch again. But, teams have to be ready to overcome these situations no matter how hard it may be! It would just be nice for a totally unbiased fair & honest called game to happen!

agreed. The one who did the AA game wasn't much better.

I agree it was bad. But the 2008 Marshall County Officiating Crew was the biggest sabitage job I have ever seen. In the Gibson County Marshall County 1st round game our two main post players had 5 touch fouls on them in the first two minutes of the game. Totally one sided. I called TSSAA office and told them to save us all a bunch of gas money and we would just stay home if they didn't have more ethics. I called the office the next year and complained before we went back up there that we wanted a fair crew. Mcminn Central got a taste of that crew in their semi-final game against Marshall the same year when Marshall's guard slid on the floor about 20 feet and a no traveling call. They scored the same possesion and Central lost over that play. Central was up by 1 point. Cost them the game.

I wonder if she was the same ref who called the Region 5AA games. She did not ref any of our games, but I thought she was the worst ref I saw all year.

They weren't the same. The one reffing Region 5AA was horrible but believe it or not the one at State was worse! Truly, truly terrible. Pathetic.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
