First of all, thank you to CoachT for allowing me to post this information.

Saturday morning at 10 AM will bring the debut of a new show, The District, on AM 760 WETR Radio in Knoxville. Talk Radio 760 is a sister station to AM 620 WRJZ, which is the station that has partnered with Powell High Football for the past decade in broadcasting Panther games.

The District will be an interview format show featuring coaches and players of the 9 schools of District 3-AAA and Grace Christian Academy, plus contributions from media members who regularly cover the schools of 3-AAA. Football will be a major focus, but we will also cover the other sports, coaches, and athletes of 3-AAA. Beginning this Saturday and for the next 5 weeks we will be previewing the upcoming football season. This week our guest will be the head coach of the defending district champion Powell Panthers, Matt Lowe.

The show will be aired live from Humphammer's Market and Deli, 7331 Clinton Highway in Powell - across from Walgreen's. Hump's will be our base location, but we will also be broadcasting from other locations throughout 3-AAA's geographical area as the season progresses. We invite you to come and join us this week at Hump's.

I (Bill Mynatt, the Radio Voice of Powell Panther Football) will be hosting the show, and I will be joined by co-host Donnie Mead.

We look forward to telling you the stories of the terrific coaches and student-athletes who make up District 3-AAA over the next few months.

Will we be able to get the broadcast in Oak Ridge? Not being smart just some am stations aren't that strong. And I would like to hear what you all have to say, sounds like it should be a really good show. Thanks for doing it.

The signal in to most of Anderson County that time of day should be good, as long as you aren't inside several layers of walls in a commercial type of structure.

Thanks.

And an edit: Although we won't be streaming the show at its onset, we hope to have it available online in a few weeks.

I listened to about 20 minutes of the show this morning and i enjoyed it alot! I will be listening in the weeks ahead. The only reason i didnt listen longer, is my signal faded out, but i should be able to pick it up better where i live.

Great job! Keep up the good work!

I am REALLY REALLY glad that you guys decided to do a radio show and NOT a TV show, ha. Best wishes and good luck. I will be listening. You may want to comment from time to time on some of the feeder programs to the high schools you will be covering. Thats always a good way to help increase your listener base. :thumb:

Just a heads up:

Halls head coach Kevin Julian will be our guest this Saturday (July 23), and will have several of his Red Devil players with him. We'll talk about their off season and what they are doing to try and turn things around at Halls.

Other's confirmed:

New Campbell County head coach Justin Price and his twin brother and Cougar Defensive Coordinator, Matt - on July 30. We will talk about their relationship both as brothers and what it will be like for Matt to work "for" his brother now.

New Central head coach Joe Hassel and hopefully Central's Cody Blanc - also on July 30.

Karns head coach Derek Witt and Beaver players are confirmed for August 6.

And we will be live from Scarbro Stadium at Powell High School on August 13 when Powell will host the Freshman Jamboree. We hope to meet some of you guys that day. Be sure to stop by and see the future of high school football in the area.

I am working to confirm the other coaches of 3-AAA as our guests in the next few weeks.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
