FRANKLIN REBELS 2011

Time to start a Rebel thread...what are the rebels stregths and weaknesses? What offensive and defensive players will step up this year? Thoughts?

The rebels will be at the top of district 11 and will have another great year. We are lead by a Division I QB (and many on here said he would never get a D1 offer) He has several weapons to throw to. If the line comes together then lookout this could be a great year for the Rebels. Defense will be a strong point for this years team. Lots of starters off of last year team will be returning and we have also gotten some transfers that will help. Rebels will win district 11 and hopefully get by Rutherford county in the playoffs. See you guys soon at the tailgates.

I agree with the statements of fbforme, franklin should have a strong team this year led by a stellar senior class. Many starters returning on defense and most of the key offensive playmakers remain from last year. Offensive line will be the question mark as the Rebels graduated 4 starters last year. It will be interesting to see how some of the young players step up for Frankin, as depth may be an issue.

This might be a little off the subject but why is Independence allowed to cheat and no one say anything about it? It seems like they can get away with anything. I took my son to camp this past week at The University of Tennessee and I saw three Independence players there at camp kicker Landon Foster, and the two Swayze kids. I thought it was illegal and against TSSAA rules for kids to be at a camp that one of their coaches are working. Their receiver coach was working the camp as well Darrel Hammonds. That to me is an extra practice for the Independence players considering their coach was there working the camp. Can someone tell me if I am correct about this rule? This needs to stop. Just because your coach played for the Titans does that make it ok to cheat?

Am I the only one confused about your post? 1. You're screen name is Indynation. (Independence). 2. If your screen name is Indynation, why are you trying to accuse "your" school. 3. You say you took your son to the camp...so are you a parent of one of these kids trying to call out the school that your kid goes to? 4. If your honestly worried about their kicker Landon Foster being at a camp at the same time as one of their coaches, then you have a lot more problems to worry about. I'm pretty sure coaches don't try to teach kickers how to kick, especially ones like Foster.

Not that I put much credence in 7 on 7 football, but a DI qb that can only win 4 games at Vandy's 7 on 7 doesnt bode well. Is there a receiver issue? I have heard he is a little slow, but come on, there was no rushing, so how fast do you need to be for 7 on 7 success. Whats the story there?

If it is a receiver issue, combined with an inexperienced o-line, picking FHS at the top may be a gamble. I'm not saying anyone else is better, but there seem to be some pretty serious questions that need answers.

No gamble picking FHS on top or over Centennial that is for sure Mr. Taco. Rebels will be soooooooooo much better than people think. The defense has lots of returners and we will see your madness when FHS is once again sticking it to CHS. Hey why don't we sit together at the FHS/CHS game and see who is smiling.

Think you can actually answer my post as a maturely and not as a Franklin cheerleader? A little over the top with your own hype is not a good thing.

CHS was horrible last year, and without a couple of plays falling into Franklin's lap, CHS would have won. They didnt and thats history so it doesnt matter.

The question is still hanging out there...how does a slow footed "D1" qb get only 4 wins at a NON RUSHING passing camp? Is it a receiver issue? QB issue? And with a young O-line, can they give him the protection he needs to throw the ball?

Having watched several of those Vandy games, I can tell you how they got "only" 4 wins. First, they were competing against teams that have been traveling a great deal of the summer doing nothing but passing camps. Secondly, the secondaries they faced were, for the most part, superior to what they'll see in 11-AAA. Not that the district is weak, but these teams were very strong. Thirdly, and I was biased for all the county teams, they got hosed at least twice in games that should have been wins. The last hosing would have advanced them one more round. The team that got that win went on to finish second I believe.

The point I'm making...Franklin will be solid and the QB will make good throws. They are not as good as some think and next year ain't looking so hot. As for Centennial, they are not as bad as some paint them and I think they'll surprise some folks, but the next two years should be really good.

Best advice I ever got: Don't under estimate anybody!

Franklin never does well in 7 on 7s, it's just not their game. The teams with the best athletes win in those tournaments, that's not Franklin. In real football, the team with the best FOOTBALL PLAYERS wins. Perfect example: Hilsboro beat Franklin in 7 on 7 at Vandy, I don't see that happening on the real field this year...

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.

    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
