I would agree if i was Clay I would just try and work out a deal not to even have to go play Friday DeKalb is clearly the better team much bigger school much more talent and that dc they have is clearly better than all clays coaches put together i heard clay cant even line up straight much less chew gum and walk i guess were in for along night but i suppose we do have to show up i think there is probably a contract or something so maybe clay can pull the biggest upset ever sic'em boys

DeKalb takes this one. Wouldn't surprise me if it was by a really large margin. They have looked impressive so far, and are alot more balanced this year with the running and passing game, which opens up more deep passes. Their defense is doing great with the new coordinator. Also, I heard Clay beat Cannon 19-8 in a scrimmage or something like that. I know it's just a scrimmage, but it would take more than that to come away with a win against DeKalb this year after seeing how bad cannon is playing this year. They got blew out by 41 by a Watertown team that DeKalb had just played and tied the week before.

Somebody is a little too cocky it seems like but we'll see friday night who the better team is.

I hate to steal one of Roy Dillard's lines, but I was reading in my Murphy Fair about Dekalb and saw that they had a receiver who was 6'4'' and had about 700 yards last year. I think his name was Sonni Young. Sounds to me like this young man could cause some disruption in Clay's secondary. How has he been so far this year? Did he show out against Warren County?

I don't think he's on the team this year.

Yes he was an amazing player and could have caused extreme damage this year. Especially with how good we're doing even without him. But unfortunately it was a dagger to the heart of all of us when he decided not to play this year. He still walks the halls, but he is not playing. It's really sad.

That's awful. I know the pain of seeing athletes not play all sports in a single A school. I have never though about it as much in a larger system, but when there's a kid like that in the building that knows the team's system already it would have to drive a body crazy.

so the kid is still in school and didn't play that does hurt Clay - Celina has had there share of that you need your best athletes to play when your in a small town the guys don't realize what they miss till they get out of school a few years and look back and realize these are the best days of there lives i look around the stands and wonder sometimes what are they thinking but the ones that want to be there thats the ones that make it worth going and watching so like you said who needs him be proud of the boys you have

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
