KNOX POWELL & CO. AT ANDERSON COUNTY

You guys want to talk about this game or keep argueing about the proper way to refer to a small rural area outside of Knoxville. I have ties to both schools. I graduated from Powell in 1990, but I have a sophomore starting for Anderson County friday night. When I seen the thread title I knew exactly what Jeo was referring to, and Im pretty sure everyboby else does to. So lets talk about the game and quit wasting each others time. Its as simple as this, which by the is not very simple, LOL. Take away or limit Mobley to 1 TD and you got a shot at beating Powell. Their Pass game is suspect, Logan and Washington together are not as effective as Mobley, and their defence is not as stout as last year. Can that happen friday night? Sure it can. But like I said, easier said than done. O ya, our boys at AC have got to limit the penelties and TO's friday night. We will not have a chance if the same self inflicted mistakes continue that we've seen in the 1st 4 games.

I really do not know what was going on with HTV; maybe just another distraction for AC fans. But that was as perfectly said as can be. AC Mavs will not be distracted away from football. A Mav lives, eats and thinks football. This is the life of a Maverick. You know more about Powell then most people. And if we can keep the scouter scoreatwill out of the locker room and practice stands then we can compete very will. Make sure those gates are closed all week to only staff and players. LOL Remember what I told you about him.

Nice job. Good to know that you actually know the name of your opponent this week.

 

I really didn't mean to stir anything up. I was just trying to explain that the "Knox" isn't part of the name of the school. It obviously got out of hand when the poster apparently wanted to get in to a spitting contest over it. While it may not seem like anything of importance to some, for those of us who live in Powell and support the school and the athletic teams, it's just nice to see the school called by the correct name. As far as I am concerned, it's over with.

 

Like I said, I look for a really hard fought football game this week. Powell and AC (and note that I didn't say Clinton-AC ) has become quite an intense rivalry since redistricting took place. It was a good series before, but now it takes on even more importance.

You can't limit Mobley much less stop him. Look at his numbers. Deosn't he average about 12 yards a carry, He will continue to do that unless he plays a defense that is just awesome. I don't see that this weekend. He will score at least 3 touchdowns this week. But you can win the game if it's a shootout type game where neither team can stop the other and you have the ball last. Oh yeah, by the way, there defense is very good, they are not down one bit from last year. One of their coaches told me they only replaced two guys off the defense and they were the ends. He said two guys that replaced them were as good, but didn't start because the other kids were seniors and deserved to be the starters. I can guarantee you one thing for sure. They are the hardest hitting team we play against. They will smack you. Good luck Mavs(and I truly mean that) cause you're gonna need it.
