They gave up 21 to alcoa 1 td on a kick return another a short field after a turnover, against ooltewah 23 with multiple turnovers and again short field, k catholic scored37 and again turn overs and short field but that was thier worse performance of the year against chatt. central thier only win 7 points. D is pretty good considering they stay on the field alot more than yrs past.

Just had to be at Alcoa, Do you think Alcoa opened up with Maryville setting in the stands watching. Nah. Then again Alcoa just lost to AE.Huummmm

Just FYI, Slaughter and Rankin are pretty good friends. He wasn't going to embarrass him.

seen both team play this year. WV hosting Hixson and CHS hosting the owls. after watching both games form a coaching perspective and basically scouting both teams...

Cleveland is most definately a team chemistry and personel problem. I agree completely that the coaching staff can only give the kids the tools that they need to win and its the kids' job to put them to use but the penalties is a coaching discipline issue. One of CHS DB's returned an INT for a td agaist the owls and his fellow team mate got a flag for unnecassary roughness and was proud of it. THAT IS A COACHING ISSUE and classless.

Valley's issue is most definatey coaching. They have more athletes that CHS. Several get on here and say that its not coach lockerby that if the athletes were there they would win at least one game. THis should hold true most of the time but when the coaching staff puts kids into terrible positions it is setting them up for failure. For instance...hixson has not thrown the ball all night and WV is in a 4-3 with both safeties deep in coverage. Thats unacceptable. Plus WV ran the exact same 6 plays (12 for both sides) the entire night. They made no adjustments at halftime and they tried to throw the ball on a boot without pulling any guards or tackles for that matter. It was a suicide mission.

So with that being said...even tho WV has more athletes adn CHS needs some serious discipline, I think CHS will pull it out thru intimidation and the fact that WV's dbs could cover a middle scholl receiver and WV can NOT tackle at all!

CHS-30

WV-24

Well Cleveland wins 31 - 24, but sheesh.

17 Penalties for 230 yards or so? Real discipline issues there.

But it was intersting to watch. Cleveland runs and WV throws. Exact oppisite of what the hype leads you to expect.

Both teams showed flashes of great ability then went back to mediocrity. But was an entertaining game to watch.

Voytik did a nice job managing the offense on the field but still was hurt by drops by the recivers. And again the penalties just killed Cleveland. 4 Unsportsmanlike penalties AFTER the play is over and the ref standing next to them will kill them in games down the road.

Wells being used as decoy more than running early is different. Walker Valley did anice job mixing up the plays and the QB came through with some nice passes. Spreading the ball around can help Wells immensely, but he needs to do more sooner rather than waiting till late to try and get him going.

well put alt1958. walker valley D must stop the run for the team to win. cleveland drove up the middle many time again 10-15 yards a carry. if the O keeps it up could see wins over SD and rhea.

Cleveland will have problems with bradley and may not see another win.

Cleveland changeing back from a spread to I formation really helped and seems to work better with the team CHS has this year. The WR still need to catch the ball, but it takes it off Voytik shoulders a bit and let's him do a nice job managing the game and relieves some pressure of the pass rush. Gotta be concerned with a running attack now.

WV really showed weakness up front, and did not tackle well at all. But the passing was a surprise since that had been very quiet in earlier games.

Bradley will be a tough one for Cleveland, but with a running attack Cleveland becomes much more of a threat. Soddy is not bad so that will be interesting game for them as well.

WV may sneak out a couple of wins but will be tough to do even against the remaining schedule.

    • The people need our help!
    • Lol when was last time they won region or got past the 3 rd round.
    • Gravedigger gotta finish filling the hole before hitting 40 East. May need a new Yellow Shirt play signaler on the Stones. And apparently a new strength coach now. Cicadas must've got shaken out of the bushes in Donelson. Hopefully the mower man sticks around to keep DG field looking pristine. Maybe new OC can call in a favor to his PGA friends that knows a thing or two about being green during the season. The heat is on soon. Bring in the 2 way freak Iceman and cool things off. He knows a thing or 2 about wildcats. Gotta take our talents South soon for Nationals. Don't step on my blue suede shoes.
