White House (4-1) at Goodpasture (3-3)

White House is coming in off a disappointing performance at Beech on Friday night. BDP comes in with questions left to be answered; 1. Will Heath Johnson play at QB?, 2. Will McEwen play?, 3 Will White House play a complete 4 quarter game on both sides of the ball? The Blue Devils, I believe, have a better team this year than Goodpasture but will they show up? Wicker has played well since starting his first game at QB against Station Camp but we're going to have to throw the ball successfully more if we want to make a deep run into the playoffs. The back end of our schedule is much tougher than the front end. We still have to travel to unbeaten Smith County and a much improved Macon County team comes to WH October 14. A big game with big implications is on the horizon this week.

 

Goodpasture is 3-3 but they have won 3 out of 4. They manhandled their rival David Lipscomb this past Thursday and had an extra day of rest/preparation for the Devils. They have some dangerous backs and a great QB with a solid defense.

 

I look forward to hearing from everyone!! Seems like we may have a player of WH in the forums, bdp2013, and I can always count on pitchfork to give his input but I'd love to hear from more fans of both teams!! See you Friday and I'm gonna save my prediction until Thursday. Good luck to both teams.

This should be an interesting match up, and should be a close one. White House had problems containing the speed of Hurd last week from Beech who rushed for around 250. Well, it doesnt get any better this week. White House will have their hands full with Reynolds from Goodpasture who is a dual threat at QB. White House needs to get Johnson and McEwen back in the game if they want a fair shot at winning this game. Even without them BDP has been known to rise to the occasion during big games. For example, the Liberty game last year which was one of the best games ive ever seen White House play. White House took Goodpasture to the final play two years ago, and to double overtime last year and lost 42-41 on a two point conversion. Will this be the year White House finally gets it done? Goodpasture is just now starting to play the way everyone believed they should have been playing the whole season. They are a young team and only time makes them better. So they blew out 1-4 David Lipscomb...they gave up 40+ points to JPII and Macon County. White House is much better than any team you've played this year.

Are you nuts? CPA would waxxx White House. But anyway I do believe a little home field andvantage will come into play this week. I can't wait to see this game. GoodPasture wins in a shootout 41-35.

Should be a great one. I think GP may have finally turned the corner on defense this past week. Granted DL is way down this year; I saw some intensity that hasn't been there thus far.

 

White House appears to be a good team, this one is for the region. My pick GP 35 WH 30.

This game is most likely for the District/Region championship and the Devils will not win if they play like they did against Beech. IMO Heath Johnson needs to be re-inserted as starting QB, but with whichever QB the coaches start, we must be less predictable and explore passing opportunities more than 5-6 times a game. i.e. Use the pass to set up the run. Our offense has become too predictable. We don't have an All-State RB but we do have an All-State WR. We must continue to explore getting the ball to #8 more. Reverses?, Screen passes? Slants? We will not win scoring less than 20 a game, especially against the likes of Beech, Goodpasture, Smith County, Livingston Aca.

 

The Devils must get more tackles out of the D-line and our linebackers must shed the blocks and hit them and stand them up at the L.O.S. Not good when CBs and Safetys are doing most of the tackling. Our D has been pretty good this year, Hurd is just that good.

 

The mood is not dire and the future is still bright, but everyone must improve. The players have to play harder and faster, the coaches have to adjust and not try to fit a square peg into a round hole, and the fans must get off sitting on their hands and CHEER louder for the whole game (we finally had some students get into it, love ya blue smurfs). I think we can do this, I know we can do this! We can live up to our motto "BDP" or supportive but quiet bunch. We should be really rocking the house with the number of our fans that come out to the game. Let's all join the "rowdy bunch" I'll go with BDP, will you???

I agree, I say CPA would beat WH by 21.

 

BDP has struggled in three of their four games this season. They have played down to their competition against Portland, Westmoreland, and Greenbrier. The Station Camp game was close until midway through the 4th quarter and the Devils pulled away. I know Station Camp is 1-4 but they'd handle White House's other three opponents.

That"s a lot of questions to carry into week 6. Oh well, here's my take. 1) Johnson will be back at QB. If the Devils go down at Goodpasture without playing the starting QB, the OC will be taking an ink spot test on Monday. Hamilton will throw everything but the kitchen sink at this one. Coaches know when to invoke discipline. 2) Decision hasn't ben made. Sizemore is good but its what McEwen does after the catch that makes him great. Size could fill some of those shoes but he will need newspaper for the toes. 3) If the Devils have 11 players on the field, they will play four quarters. 4) If the bus is running, they will show up.
