Gville vs. Eagleville

It's a newer stadium and about what most of the newer ones have, it would have been way to costly to bring in and set up and take down more bleachers. I don't think I've ever seen that happen in any high school event. I've been and no doubt y'all have too, to schools that only had maybe two or three of the small bleachers like you see at the baseball fields. Y'all have one of the old school stadiums (nothing meant by that at all) when they used to do the concrete stands and have a lot of seating back before there were so many new schools popping up and they started going to the aluminum setups. I saw chop blocks both ways for sure, don't like that but both were doing it.

we dont have any concrete seating. Its all aluminum. Its a beautiful field, and the school is only 8 yrs., old. <_<

Gordonsville was just way too dominant up front last night. Coen played well but Payne and Swaim flat out got it done. Eaglville has a good defense but they were just overmatched. Jernigan is a good player and played his heart out last night as did Hale. Gordonsville was just too big, strong and dominant and had too many playmakers for them to handle. Refs were bad all the way around last night. I will also say this Eagleville group got away with some late hits. I also heard from one of the people involved that Rutherford Co. Sheriffs Deputies had to escort at least two Eagleville fans from the stands due to their abusive language to Gordonsville fans and staff. I spoke with someone this morning who listened to the game on the radio and they got the same feeling from the broadcast that is was hostile over there. No place in highschool football for this.

I have been out of pocket since Friday night and not had a chance to respond. First of all congratulations to Gordonsville on the win. Good luck this Friday night against South Pitt.

I would like to address the issues raised by FNL in this post. Concerning the late hits both teams participated in them and both got away with them, so that is a wash. The referees who administered this game done their job poorly and never established control. They let a lot of "chipiness" go on from both sides. I witnessed some verbal warnings given, however what good are they if you are not going to follow up with flags? The game was officiated poorly. It did not have any bearing on the outcome. One would expect better officiating in a quarter final playoff game.

I was sitting not far from the fan who was escorted out by the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department. I only saw one, not two that was mentioned. He deserved it and should have been escorted out earlier in the evening. He has been yelling at refs, players, and fans all year. He was warned by the cops and also told by several Eagleville fans to be quiet.

I have been sitting in that area of the bleachers for the past several years. The only time I have ever heard any abusive language directed at the staff or fans of an opposing team was a few years ago against Jo Byrns when they executed an on side kick ahead by thirty with less than two minutes left in the game. The opposing teams coaching staff walks up that side to enter the pressbox. I did not see or hear anyone directing abusive language at anyone affiliated with the Gordonsville coaching staff Friday night.

I did witness two young ladies from Gordonsville ask a fan from Eagleville to move from a location he has been standing/sitting all year long in order for them to film the game from the deck that enters the pressbox. Apparently he was unwilling to move and the next thing I knew an officer is up there standing on the deck with the young ladies. A couple of things come to mind at this point. If one wants to film the game either go in the pressbox with the Gordonsville staff and film till your heart is content. Climb on top of the pressbox, as some from Gordonsville did the other night, and film from that vantage point. Another option would have been to stay on the visitors side and film for there. I think it is a bit much to come to the home side of the stadium and ask people to move, expect them to move, and then get upset when they do not comply with your demands. Just my opinion. This issue could have handled in a more constructive manner from both sides.

Again congrats to Gordonsville and good luck the rest of the year.

Congrats to Eagleville on a great season. I do not know if many people from home would have believed an 11-1 season and a third round playoff appearance were possible this year. Way to go Eagles!!!!!!!
