Last night Creek Wood defeated Fairview (58-54) and Montgomery Central fell to Houston County (44-57).

Tonight's games feature:

Montgomery Central at Camden: the Indians could possibly lock up the #6 seed with a win; the Lions need a win to keep pace with Harpeth and Creek Wood in the race for #3.

Cheatham County at Waverly: the Cubs are district champs with a win; the Tigers are no worse than #2 and could keep their district title hopes alive with a win.

Stewart County at Harpeth: the Rebels are #6 with wins this week against both Harpeth and Montgomery Central. if they only beat Montgomery Central then there will be a coin flip to determine who is #6 and who is #7 (assuming MC doesn't shock Camden tonight); the Indians have the "inside track" to the district #3 spot by virtue of their win against Waverly earlier in the season. They need a win tonight to make that count (they'll also have to root against the possibility of Camden "winning out" this week).

Clarksville Academy meets Creek Wood in "non-district" action.

4.) Camden: 17-6 (6-5)

Thursday's Games

Harpeth at Smyrna

Camden at Carroll Academy

Friday's Games

Camden at Cheatham County

Creek Wood at Waverly

Montgomery Central at Stewart County

SCENARIOS

Cheatham County is #1 with a win over Camden or a Waverly loss to Creek Wood

If Cheatham County loses to Camden and Waverly beats Creek Wood:

a.) Cheatham County is #1 if Harpeth wins a coin-flip over Camden

b.) Waverly is #1 if Camden wins a coin-flip over Harpeth

#3 is where it gets "crazy":

a.) Harpeth is #3 if Camden loses to Cheatham County and Creek Wood loses to Waverly

b.) Camden is #3 with a win over Cheatham County and a Creek Wood loss to Waverly

c.) Creek Wood could force a head-to-head tie with Harpeth with a win at Waverly and a Camden loss to Cheatham County.

If Creek Wood beats Waverly and Camden beats Cheatham County:

a.) Creek Wood and Harpeth would hold the tiebreaker over Camden IF the #1 spot went to Waverly (Camden got swept by Waverly)

b.) Camden would hold the tiebreaker over Creek Wood and Harpeth IF the #1 spot went to Cheatham County (Camden will have earned a split with Cheatham County)

FINALLY:

a.) Montgomery Central is #6 with a win over Stewart County

b.) Montgomery Central and Stewart County (#6 and #7) would be determined by a "coin flip" if Stewart County beats Montgomery Central on Friday night.

The favorites made it easy except for Montgomery Central

1. Cheatham 11-1 1st round bye

2. Waverly 10-2 against MC/SC coin flip

3. Harpeth 7-5 against MC/SC coin flip

4. Camden and Creekwood tied, but play each other anyway. No tie breaker needed except for uniform to wear.

1 plays winner of 3

winner of 2 plays winner of 4

Championship game

Consolation game

Since all of the tournament is at Central, what provisions have been made to have 6 opening round games when there normally would be 4? I'm guessing 3 games per day for girls, then boys and then carry on as before? Play championship and consolation games on Saturday and get this thing done? 12AA has been rested and waiting on 11AA the past 2 years. Tell me we've 'fixed' that.

    • Congratulations to Huntingdon and Station Camp. Lots of good softball in Tennessee. Alcoa been media favorite last two seasons.
    • Im more of a Basketball follower than football and like I said we play what we have, there is no going and recruiting or even talking kids into transferring…..and to rebut about Memphis teams in finals I’ve watched Memphis East and Penny Hardaway with the enrollment of a single A team play up and dominate any and all challengers for years! They aren’t the only ones either Mike Miller and son at Germantown put together that super team a couple years ago that ran through the rest of the state! Other teams from Memphis or Chatt or Nash or any large populated area pop up and are relevant out of nowhere every year because they get an influx of talent be it from a new coach or AAU affiliations it happens in football also just like any other sport! I hope these two schools that close join together and get to play the team you support, then you may see it differently! I find it funny some of you think recruiting and resources don’t matter . The county schools get very little funding also but you don’t want to get me started on that part!
    • In a total classless move, Coach Simmons once again shows his true colors. Waits till the day after school is out to let everyone know he is leaving. Fails up to a community college job after a lackluster 2 year span at GH. And do not tell me about the state run that saved a sub .500 season and plenty of whippings by Cookeville and Lebanon.  Looks like the girls job at GH is cursed. Terrible MS program/coaches feeding what is turning out to be a joke of a HS team.
