CPA in King of Bluegrass Tourney

I'm an athletic director at a high school in Tennessee, and that is not true. Now, TSSAA is looking at making a rule that would make a student sit out a year if they transfer to a school that their aau coach is also a coach at the school.

I am wondering why Bradshaw was able to transfer from Greenbrier to CPA last year and not have to sit out a year- something about the 30 mile requirement. However, the football players who transferred to Perry Co. apparently did something similar and this was not allowed. What is the difference and why was one ok and the other not? Is anybody aware of the specific facts in these cases?

His family moved to Franklin. a little out of GB zone. I thought it was a 20 mile requirement.

As I understand it, the Perry Co. brothers still maintained a residence (at least part time)in Henry Co.

Sorry, going to have to dispute that all statements on the topic are unfounded because everyone is a hater with absolutely no evidence or no facts.

I stand by my statement that I have never seen anyone post on this site or elsewhere provided any evidence or facts that CPA illegally recruits. Lots of misinformation, incorrect facts and harmful and shameful attacks on kids designed to damage their reputations.

Yea, you are going to have to give more details on your grandson to know which of the groups he belongs in then cuz the three groups are those recruited, those who don’t need to be recruited to be on the team and those whose parent is hired on staff or provided a job. Its run like a college program and a college should be able to beat other high school teams, no big deal. This is no more than a AAU team disguised as a high school team and AAU is all about selection and recruiting. Yea, right, all of them by magic decided to continue on in high school together. A quote from the Louisville paper says it all. "Lindsey, who also had six rebounds and three blocks, is one of four sophomore starters who have played together in AAU ball under coach Drew Maddux since they were 10 years old. “Our chemistry is great,†Lindsey said. “And right now it’s better than I’ve ever seen.â€

Hoopit10. Wow. You've really put a grandfather in his place. How dare he get on Coach T to see what is being said about his grandson's team and try to correct false information. You must really be proud of yourself.

That isn’t what you said originally. You can stand on your statement all you want, but just because you say you have never seen it or don’t know of any doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. To describe everyone as haters and any posting on the topic you don’t agree with as unfounded makes you no different since you have provided no proof that the reason for these posts are as you say “Lots of misinformation, incorrect facts and harmful and shameful attacks on kids designed to damage their reputations.†You have set yourself up as one who is able to judge the motives of the heart. Really – it is designed to damage the kids reputations? The posts I see are related to concerns about adult leadership, not kids. Course you talk about kids yet you don’t seem to have a problem posting a kid’s name from another school when you have a question or want to point out a concern of yours (e.g. Hillsboro FB player to PC).

Is it any different than you, people wondering about the advantages and wanting the full story? Of course I can’t see it ever happening on this forum because people know it isn’t worth it for them personally to get involved along with the need for people to tell the truth, neither of there being a guarantee of happening. Regardless, if you want others to keep it to posting about what they actually know shouldn’t you keep your posts to actually what you know? Let me know if and when you want to accept my earlier offer of meeting face to face about this issue.

Our dear friend, jett, who gets on Coacht for the sole purpose of tearing down kbrks.......

I don't know who is worse, you, or crimsontide43 who trolls every CPA basketball thread to comment that "Maddux can't coach"

Anybody interested in talking about actual basketball? OK I will. I was very impressed with the results from the King of Bluegrass tourney. While I didn't get to see any of the competition, from what I've read they seem to be top notch. I'm pleased to see CPA doing well in Christmas tourneys the last few years, as they have had trouble in the past. I remember in the '07-'08 and '08-'09 seasons, half of CPA's losses those seasons came when they travelled around Christmas time. I'm excited to see how they do in the Arby's classic. They should be one of the favorites, and if they play like they did in KY, they should have success. The team seems to really be coming together at this point, with several players getting back into basketball shape after the football playoffs and injuries. They have the "big 3" in Lindsey, Bradshaw, and Allsmiller, and a great supporting cast with Bonds, Howell, Wharton, and Richard. Brandon Cook and Robert Brown offer valuable minutes, and Cook's 3-point shot has improved tremendously. The bench is deep, and is about to get a little bit deeper with 6'6'' 8th grader Braxton Blackwell becoming eligible after the new year. Their size and strength inside is probably the best it's been since the days of Z Mason and Matt Zelenik, with a rotation of Brown, Howell, Tucker Johnson, and Paul Adams. This is a complete team that can hurt you in so many ways. I have to believe that if they take home the Arby's championship, that they will break into the National radar and rankings. The scariest thing about this CPA team is how young they are, with 4 sophomores starting on most nights, and a freshman big coming off the bench (soon to be joined by an 8th grade big). Bradshaw is headed to Belmont next year, and Lindsey has several big time offers already. While Lindsey is the one that gets the most press, I think Allsmiller is right there with him as a college prospect. Time will tell how they develop, but in the meantime I'm excited to see how they do in the next few days in Bristol, to see if Maddux can get his first championship this season, and to watch this team start competing on a national level in the coming years. Go Lions!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
