Heard that the Warren County's boys coach (coach Montgomery) cussed out the players yesterday after practice, heard he threw a bar stool and busted into pieces. Called the players MF's and punk #### b******??? Can anyone comment on this? Is this true? If so, is it ok to talk to players like that??? Just curious??

Love when someone posts things like this, then you see it's their very 1st post.

Kind of lacks credibility at that point.

What I assume is that you are a relative of a player on the team or a kid that did not make the squad. Either way welcome back to coacht.

Thank you. I am a parent of a starter. These comments were not directed at my son. Just was trying to get a feel from people on Coacht is this was appropriate behavior thats all.

I say on here you will get a split on the coaches behavior. Posters on here that were athletes under a fiery coach will tell you it pushed them to be better. Some that did not have such a coach will say the wish they had one that did. Some of todays coaches may be learning just like the kids do, from what they see on tv. All these halftime pep talks, pre-game talks all recorded for everyone to see, and they all push the envelope to a point.

I am sure these kids have heard all the profanity before, just maybe not directed at them. Point can be made with out profanity but I doubt very seriously anyone on here has not let one fly, Road Rage comes to mind.

I agree, however, we try to teach our kids to respect their teachers/coaches and that kind of language would not be tolerated coming from a kid. Maybe we put coaches/teachers on a higher level than we should. Just seems after everything that happened at the Spencer game and now this, one has to question his integrity?? Just a thought. They play Cookeville tonight so maybe his little "pep talk" will pay off.

I have no clue about your school or its recent happenings, just giving an opinion of an outsider. The person I looked up to the most did loose his cool a few times, but sometimes dads cant help it. Teacher/Coaches are under a lot of pressure today, have to live like a preacher and they better win ballgames while doing that. Sounds easy to some, but I would say none of them every coached a game. It is just a game, but for some its a living.

Guess not, Cookeville wins 77-45.

There is no excuse for a high school coach to use that type of language at anytime. It is generally accepted if the coach is winning but as soon as they start losing they will be dismissed. Ask Missy Donaldson. If this is allowed to go on, we are really talking about how the administrator of the school runs his school.

After the disaster that has been WC boys basketball this year. I think it is time that WC show coach Montgomery the door. From walking off the floor at Van Buren, throwing his team under the bus as the reason of walking of floor when meeting with TSSAA, losing to a homeschool team, finishing dead last in a weak 5 team district with 8 seniors, the lockerroom aburst where he went over the line by cursing his whole group especially the seniors, losing a play in game in district tourney and all other low points I think he has showed he cant coach the WC type athlete. You could make the excuse years ago about talent level when you played in the boro district 7AAA, but now you compete against talent that is similar to their own. This team took own the attitude of its so-called leader. WC can do better than this as a leader of young men. Look at his overall body of work over the last 3 years and it doesnt get much better. Montgomery needs to be shown the door. Attitude reflects leadership and from early on this year Montgomery has shown no leadership with an attitude that has been suspect at best during his tenure. Change is needed.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
