I don't like this change. The best games should be played last. Tennessee has one of the worst formats for a state tournament. The crowd is terrible etc. The whole format needs an overhaul starting with the district tournament. But over the past couple of years,TSSAA has added a session....Gouging the fans, instead of creating a better product. TSSAA is absolutely terrible, starting with the director and the head of officiating.

Whos to say higher classification means better games? AAA games can be one sided in the State Tournament just like A. And its not fair to Single A to have to play day games every year it should get switched up.

This new format is stupid. Pisses me off. Single A is like watching girls games. The only player i want to see in A is Newby. I would rather see a blowout in AAA then a close game in A. They are a lot of fans going to be upset about this. Just watch, championship day they will watch the AA game and AAA game and then leave. All you will have is fans of the teams playing in A because nobody really cares to watch it. Let me think, um, Ridgeway vs. Southwind. Cam Golden Adam Weary J3 JJ Charles Smith or BTW vs Mcewen. Newby and uh yea Newby. Give me a break, GO BACK TO THE OLD FORMAT.

I'm with Guru only because I dont have to spend that extra night and also dont have a 10 a.m game. Now the first game isnt until at least 1:30 Thursday and if we are lucky enough to be the 5th,6th,7th or 8th team selected, will be even later.More like a regular time for a game instead of feeling like a camp.I feel like you.Maybe after the bigger schools play, the crowd may dwindle. But if a team like Dyer Co were there, could see a very large crowd if Lake Co was invoved in the Single A game.Figured it will make the larger schools and their fans mad. That's why if they were going to change and wanted a bigger crowd, maybe should have played a AA..then Single A..then AAA..then maybe a Single A .Mix it up just to keep the crowd.

As for Single A about watching a girls game.Maybe you should just go to the AAA game then. Many people think Bolivar and Liberty will be in the AA State game and Lake co took Liberty to overtime.Played Brentwood,a triple A school to within 3 points.Brentwood also beat Liberty by 4 points and Clarksville Northeast and its star player,Polythese who signed with Kentucky by 6 points. And PC and some of the other Single A teams can beat a lot of the AA and Triple a teams.

I'd be willing to bet that Single A teams bring as Big if not Bigger Crowds than AA and AAA.

Rural Single A schools almost always bring more fans than inner city AAA schools. Say last year, in the girls championship, I would say North Greene/Wayne County brought more fans than the AA and AAA games combined....

Plus anyways, have you ever had to be there for a 10AM game?? I have. You either have to spend the night before, or wake up 430AM and drive almost 6 hours, just to watch a game and turn around and drive 6 hours back home.. Single A schools have been doing this for years, and I think its only fair that that the other classifacations have to do it now.

Have to agree with Guru and Bigster here... the crowds for single A often are much better than for AAA expecially when it's 2 inner-city schools who rarely have many fans make the trip Hats off to The TSSAA and Mr. Childress on these changes

Yea if any of the Memphis teams make it to AAA again, their won't be any fans there. Bolivar, Liberty, Dyer and Lake County will bring a crowd if they make it to the finals. A championship day with BTW, Southwind, and Ridgway won't bring many of my west 10 peeps over... The only thing about this format is that I will have to come a day early....

I agree with all three ..when inner city schools play, the 99% of fans arent their fans....kudos for accomodating the real fans.. :hungry:

    • Yeah.  Kids only transfer in and out of Bearden these days, you know.   That particular poster evidentially has a personal vendetta with Josh Jones.   Consider the source.  And the kid transferring to McCallie is a terrific talent, but an opportunity to go to McCallie on scholarship (and I am assuming that is the case) is one that is very much beneficial both athletically and academically.  McCallie is a great school for both.   Bearden will be fine.  And so will both of those kids who decided with their parents/advisors to go elsewhere.
    • I think we are conducting interviews now since we have so many wanting to come to school here and play for a real team with a chance to play in front of lot's of fan's and have a chance to win a championship every year.
    • Esteemed colleagues, On this auspicious Saturday morning, I fortuitously encountered Dr. Satterfield at the Early Bird Cafe, whereupon we engaged in a discourse concerning the pool of candidates vying for a coveted position. Dr. Satterfield, possessing a discerning eye, has graciously shared insights into the contenders, which I shall now relay to you in a structured manner. Eric Vetetoe, though initially absent from my considerations, ascended to the zenith of Clint's roster, poised atop his discerning clipboard as a preeminent candidate. Kyle Gregory, with a coaching demeanor reminiscent of a bygone era, has captivated Clint's admiration. His interview performance, I am informed, left an indelible impression, aligning seamlessly with Clint's nostalgic sentiments. Davy Cothron's cerebral approach to offense, notwithstanding a past championship game setback, garners high praise from Dr. Satterfield. His strategic acumen, it appears, remains unblemished despite previous trials. Brandon Eden's steadfast allegiance to the team, evidenced by his tenure on the creekbank, earns him considerable favor in Clint's estimation. Anticipation lingers as to whether an offer may be extended in recognition of his unwavering dedication. Wesley Satterfield emerges as a compelling candidate following a favorable assessment by Mr. Satterfield himself. The prospect of a Satterfield succession holds a certain allure, embodying continuity and tradition in equal measure. Kyle Shoulders, a surprising entrant in the applicant pool, impresses Clint with his football intellect, potentially positioning him as a contender for the role. Josh Hackett's defensive prowess, particularly in encounters against Trousdale over recent years, earns commendation from Coach Satterfield, underscoring his proficiency in the strategic aspects of the game. John McNeal's track record of success across multiple sports affords him undeniable merit, though the prospect of his acceptance, if offered, remains uncertain. Chad Evitts, a former NFL luminary, presents a unique opportunity, recognized keenly by Mr. Satterfield, to infuse our program with elite expertise and experience. Matt Dyer, revered for his contributions during the regular season, faces scrutiny for his playoff performances, a dichotomy that weighs upon Clint's evaluation. Chuck Gentry, endorsed by Dr. Satterfield, embodies the promise of transformative leadership, drawing parallels to his past triumphs in revitalizing programs akin to ours. Clint extols BJ West's astute management at the middle school echelon, where his strategic maneuver of strategically calibrating the team's schedule to optimize performance stands as a testament to his sagacity and acumen in navigating competitive dynamics. In conclusion, the deliberations surrounding our prospective leadership remain nuanced and multifaceted, underscoring the significance of this decision in shaping the future trajectory of our esteemed institution.
