in case no one noticed, and obviously no one has...moore county softball has truly turned a good season into a cinderella season.....they start 5 eight graders and have no seniors on the team...one of those is their picture....they play way above their age and just go out and play,....coach jeremy austin and his girls deserve a ton of credit for the hard work they have put in this year,,no one say this coming, at least not this year...go raiderettes, we are so very proud of you and the season you all have had....go out have fun, kick tail and stay loose

This article says first base Sarah Raby is a senior????

Like most of the article, they are trying to make it sound like Forrest lost the game instead of getting beaten, maybe making it seem like a couple of seniors played for MC sounded better. MC does not have a senior starter on the team. A couple of 11th graders, maybe two 10th graders, the rest are 8th and 9th graders I think. They start 5 8th graders including the pitcher, catcher, left fielder, 2nd base, and right fielder. By the way when Forrest had 2 runners thrown out on the same play in the region championship game, I think the throw came in from the right fielder (8th grade), to the catcher (8th grade) who then threw the other runner out at third (10th grader). Like I said before, richlandraiderdad, not a bad sofball season for a basketball school. I hope MC wins the state, but no matter how they finish, they have already exceeded almost everyone's expections except the players and coaches.

If you really want media coverage you have to invite them. Your local people should jump on the chance but for the most part they just don't know about it. Heck we didn't know what the brackets were for Tuesday until Saturday. Local media love good stories like this so just shoot them an email with dates, locations and times.

Thanks. You may be correct about sending Tullahoma News and some of the other local papers an email. As far the brackets, no one knew that until yesterday.

Sorry about the error in your grade and your name in the article Sara Raby. Have the utmost respect for you and all your teamates in Moore County. Like Coach Cheatham said in the story, you kicked our butts. Looking forward to a great rivarly in the future and go D9-A at state!

That article is from the local Marshall county newspaper so it is expectedly slanted in Forrest's favor. I believe the author's daughter even plays for Forrest. Don't expect much softball coverage unless its from a local newspaper. The Marshall county newspaper does a really good job giving its local teams(Forrest, Marshall Co, and Cornersville) coverage. Not many rural areas are as lucky.

BTW, congrats to Moore County on the great season! I'm not sure that Forrest and Moore County will have a harder time than anyone else at state. I think its WIDE open for just about anyone this year. From what I have observed there is not the dominate pitching that we've seen in years past from the likes of Walker(Grace), Fagan(Cornersville), Stinnett(Forrest), Renfroes(TCA), etc. In years past those who followed closely knew only two or three teams each year had a real shot at the title. I'm not sure you can say that this year. **(Admittedly, I have not seen Decatur Co this year. If they are anywhere close to good as last year they should be the overwhelming favorite.) They came thru some epic battles with Grace and Cornersville last year to win.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
