Ok played a bad game Friday night against a very talented Page program. I see Page making a deep run in 4A playoffs. Now time for the biggest game of the season for the players and fans of both teams. This is also Hickman's final game of the season. Sitting at 6-3 we need this big win. Hickman will be without RB Blake Johnston and Safety Chase Johnston both brothers. Blake and Chase both should make a return by playoffs since we have a bye week right before Round 1. We played without both these talented young men against Lewis County and won with a score of 28-25. Looking at stats and talent, this should be an easy win for HC....But EH always plays HC hard....so im gonna be realistic and say a score of 35-14. Hoping for a shutout though.

This will be closer than some predict. It is a county rivalry and emotions will be at a major high. I still have to take the Bulldogs to get the win but I will predict a 28 to 14 type of game.

I agree emotions will be high, and HC and EH always play each other hard. Will be a close game. But maybe not, with Blake Johnston being out this game....we will turn to pass plays....and we always score big off pass. I have yet to understand why the OC has not turned to more pass plays. 8 out of 10 times its always a completion. With so many teams just having all 7 in the box keying on our all state RB, and having 3 very very good Wrs, 1 who already has near 800 yards receiving..my grandma was in the stands Friday night guessing every play correctly before the ball was even snapped....run run, 3rd and long...short pass...punt. We have done this same thing all year, ofc its goes a little differently playing teams who are near even in talent. Then its run run pass touchdown. or run run touchdown. With firstdowns in between. But playing big teams such as Fairview, Giles, and Page it kills me to see us moving the ball passing and then run three times in a row gaining less the 5 yards or negative yards just to punt. Either way First down is always a run, second down is 90% of the time run and 3rd and long is always short pass. Not taking anything away from Blake...hes gotten to where hes at earning every inch of it...but its hard running the ball when every team we play key all 7 on him. Regardless what my point was...with him being out, I see us running more big pass plays, kinda like we did against LC.

With all due respect, LC should have won that game by a large margin. Just like they should have beat the crap out of Page. I wouldnt base my prediction off of a game you won against us. with that said I still expect HC to win 35-14, 14 being generous.

East will win 35-20 not only are they better , the powers to be will not let gator boy get fired.

I hope East wins big.Its just hard watching these boys go out and play on Friday nights and know they can do alot better than what they are doing. Because you think about it when these boys were back in middle school they won the district and were beating the teams like Fairview, Lewis, and Centerville and now its hard to just compete, so I think we all know what the answer is.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
