Just curious but are there any public schools in tn that have 8th graders on varsity? And yes last year was first time 2 freshman dominated atleast as long as I've been around wrestling.

 

yes there are few public school thst allow 8th graders. 103/106 has always been predominantly younger kids in 2011 the breakdown was 12th- 3, 11th- 3, 10th-10, 9th 15, 8th 1. a 10th grader won the state that year vs a junior. In 2010 the breakdown was 12th-0, 11th 4, 10th-9,9th-17, 8th 2. There wasnt even 1 single participant that was a senior. in fact every placer was a freshman except the 6th place and he was a junior. You can go back every year and its always the same. Do you think you would see numbers like that in anything over 126 lbs?

in 2012 it appears the added weight did allow a few more upperclassmen to wrestle the lightest weight but still a very small number compared to other weights. in 2012 at 106 you had 12th-2, 11th-9, 10th-9, 9th 12 with the champion being a freshman, runner up a 10th grader, 3rd place a senior, 4th place afreshman, 5th a junio 6th a junior. So for the last three years you have had seniors-5, juniors-17, sophmores 28, freshmen 44, 8th graders 3. two champions have been freshmen and one a sophmore

it doesn't matter what weight is the easiest or the hardest because no matter what weight you win state at you are still a state champ and nobody can take that from you.

Im suprised nobody commented on this one. Didnt Turbo Smith lose to Baker 5-1 Friday night? Im a big Turbo fan but a little curious on the thought process on this decision? Hey, I know, I know, its your rankings and you can pick whoever you want but this one made me scratch my head.

ahh.. so the wrestler of the week is for dI? It just said wrestler of the week and I didnt see one for dII so I assumed he was wrestler of the week for both. Still who cares about divisions, when you step on the mat its a wrestling match. I would think you would take that into consideration.

As far as matlock and lopez , their in differant weight classes, but if they were, how can a kid be ranked thats not a returning state placer and yes that will,be a great match when it happens
