I could careless if you moved to #1. What does that win you? I bet youre one of those people that actually count games you win in summer camp arent you???? Notre Dame was the "consensus" number 1 in the voting polls and what did that win them? Keep on playing those cupcake schedules and see how you come out when you play a real team!

How can you say that "I could careless..." and "what does that win you?"when the topic of this thread is about the press not having Clarkrange and Jackson Co. at #'s 1 and 2 ?District 7 has an amazing record of making it to,and playing well in the tournament...no one is saying otherwise.Take the stats for strength of opponents, the timeline of losses, and the margins of common opponents, place them on paper, and vote on the top five...nobody in their right minds would have them in the top two spots.Did anyone have Clay Co. at #1 at anytime last year?Play it out on the floor and someone will have bragging rights and a gold ball when the dust settles, and not before.Claim that Jackson County is the best team in 1A all you'd like, only a couple or three teams can make any arguement to the contrary, but to berate someone for commenting on the polls is asinine, especially when that's the origin of this topic.

That's the problem with these polls is that they are all done on paper, I wonder how many of these people have actually went out and have see all of these teams play. You asked if anyone had Clay County on their poll at #1 last year, and to answer that it is no! But did anyone have Jackson County at #2 last year? JC started out at #4 behind Moore County, Lake County, and Madison Academic, and ended in the final poll at #3 behind Moore County and Lake County. Every year the only reason half of the teams are even ranked are because of record. Clay was never ranked high because they lost too many ball games, but games against Macon County, Clarkrange, and Jackson County. As Devil said you see teams all the time come in with 31-3 or 32-2 records and end up going home early! When you see a team from 7a win 30+ games you know they've earned it.

The only people that were lucky at the Glass House last year were the Clay County Lady Bulldogs for having the best secret weapon, (apparently because nobody could guard her) in Sydney Roach.

Her 3 at the 3rd quarter buzzer was the dagger. JC had a three point shot rim out with about a minute left in the 3rd that would have gave them the lead for the first time. Clay was really struggling to score and JC had the momentum. They just ran away with it after that.

Funny that your last two sentances match up with Jackson Co.'s record in the 2010-2011 season with three losses...and the fact that Loretto ran them out of the gym in the first round 55/32. Not bashing JC,just reminding you that it can happen to anyone on a given night, even a district 7 team.

It's rare, unless beaten by a powerhouse, that these 7A teams when great, are beaten by someone out side of the best area in the state for girls basketballl, the Upper Cumberland.

I'm a uppercumberland fan to the core, but were not the best area anymore. It's Murfreesboro, not even close. We are second best though, and have a proven track record.

Disagree. One big team, Riverdale, doesn't make an area great. Only division girls basketball from the UC doesn't dominate is AAA, and of course the privates because there aren't any. Single A and Double A? Jackson, Clay, Clarkrange, Pickett (in the past), Livingston, Upperman, Cannon, Macon, Stone. On some years you can throw York, Red Boiling, and White County in the mix.

7A Is a traditional power and I feel that they very well might have a team in the finals again this year... But with that being said I do not feel they have the best team on paper in single a... they might very well win it again this year but I can honestly say I do not see this happening... honesty from an innocent bystander...

    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
