That was a reference to what happened on Blankenship Field. Matt Smith is a former Wildcat defensive back that played against Ricky Upton and Jeff Co. back in the early to mid 90's.. Matt is not in coaching. Anybody who saw the play I'm talking about will never forget it. Here's what happened...

Matt Smith was probably 5 foot 8, 160 lb db. Upton was probably 6 foot 2 240 pound Division 1 committment heading to Penn State. Jeff Co. had the ball inside their own 5 yard line and called a swing/flair pass to Upton out of the backfield. Just as he put his hands up to receive the pass, Matt Smith lined him up and struck like a bullet. He flatbacked Upton for a loss of 5 and a safety. It was an unforgettable play. You can see it on the highlight film that plays before the coaching show. Matt Smith was #6

Gotcha, I knew who Upton was and I remember the play. It was at the far end endzone. Yeah I was there and saw it.

As far as the no head coach experience. That's part of the problem. All coaches start somewhere and lets face it, we are a little biased, but OR is not the OR of old. We need the best candidate who will bring back the community excitement and be here for the long hall head coaching experience or not. Even GQ had to be given a chance.

I wish they would just hire somebody and get it overwith, this is crazy.
