Would Sith go after the Dyer kids who is assint coach at Macon? He played at smith i think.

Who knows? It really will depend on who puts in. I think there will be some very good established head coaches put in. It will be interesting to see who does. The facilites and program in place will draw some interest...at least.

Oh wow! Will the new coach at Smith County be allowed to bring in new assistants since Maynord has taken several with him?

You would think so. SC lost the Head Coach, OC assistant head coach, O-line and D-line coach. There should be a lot of interest in the job. Let's start the speculation... Kevin Creasy-Scott Murray- David Martin-Coaches Dickerson/Harville at SC now. Maybe even Rankin comes back home to finish where he started and be close to watch his son play at Tech. We'll see. It ought to be an interesting spring.

I would call Rankin a possibility. I would also call Martin and Creasy possibilities. I believe Nix (Alcoa DC) could be a "sleeper choice" if he is interested.

Nix isn't leaving East TN...he bought a nice big house a few years ago, his whole family lives in Maryville and if he leaves Alcoa it won't be for Smith Co it will be for somewhere like Oak Ridge.

I really think there will be some very good coaches put in. SC needs to be patient...and get the best fit.

Lebanon (nearby) just had a multiple time state championship head football coach land their school's job. I believe Smith County could get a "big name" guy as well. It doesn't have to be a local land however if a Roger Perry or David Martin (just throwing a couple of random names out there) did happen to apply then Carthage would be silly not to look at him. I believe several name choices will be in the mix for this job.

    • While I appreciate being credited with multiple accounts, I have to say that is not true. Will you please report back to your people that I am not someone who provides sharp, witty banter, but rather someone who is putting the shoe on the other foot for some people that have been repeatedly bashing others here and in real life for the past few years? Everything that I have stated has been backed by factual evidence or public record, so no need to be sharp and witty.
    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
