District 13AA Tournament

I'm going with Covington by 9. This game will be close all the way through I think. Covington is the better team, but Dyersburg plays with so much intensity. They had several players come up big for them the other against Gibson besides the #22. If Dyersburg plays smart and with the same intensity, they could pull one off here, but I still say Covington.

I'm going with Westview by 12. It is hard to beat a team three times, but the better team wins more times than not. It should be a good game, but I think Westview is primed and ready for a state tournament run this year. The run starts with a big win over Obion.

Westview came back in second half and won by 4 or 5. Vincent for Westview was huge in the second half. Finished the game with 25 or 30. Goodman for Obion also finished with like 32.

Vincent finished with like 6 three pointers and 27 points. Obion went to a zone in the second half and Westview took full control of the freedom and let the three pointers fly. They hit 8 of their 10 threes in the second half.

Westview won 59-53.

I'm going to go with Westview in the championship over Covington. I know Covington has only 2 losses on the year, but they didn't seem like they were ready to play tonight against Dyersburg. Teams should be peaking right now and Westview looked pretty dominant in that second half tonight. Covington struggled big time shooting the ball tonight and had Dyersburg's post player not fouled out, I'm not sure that Covington would've won. They took the game over in OT when she fouled out.

Westview and Obion split in the regular season with each team winning on their home floor so last night's game was the rubber match so to say unless they meet in the region

Even though Obion lost, they still looked pretty stinkin good. Westview just lit the second half up with threes and that was the difference. I think either of those two would've beaten Covington last night had Covington played like that against one of them.

Two more great games in 13AA. I agree with you GC Pioneer. Westview lost by 1 tonight in OT, but I believe they make some noise in the Boro this year. Dyersburg is playing really good right now and I think if I had to play Obion or Dyersburg right now I would choose Obion. They miss Macy Wright in a bad way especially from three point land. Also, looks like Obion possibly may have to go to Bolivar in the 1st round of the region where they lost earlier this year. Obion goes through the motion on defense like they did in the last two they might not make it past Round 1.

    • Yeah I am on board and plan on coming down from the Ridge for some home games, great Friday night atmosphere there.  I'm really hoping SC can get them back going and have some success for those fans and community.
    • Yep I was field level on the scoreboard end throwing ball with Benny when we had that brief lead. Everybody got very excited but it was short lived as Murvil regrouped and went into machine mode. But yeah,  that hit sounded like the crack of a black powder rifle being fire.  I believe Dozier took one like that as a Soph up at Greeneville after on olay block.
    • Ole Benny boy lol. I forgot about Harder. He was tough as crap. He graduated in ‘09. I went to the OR/Maryville game that year (great game, btw) and he collided with Jacob West (I think was his name) and you could hear it clearly at the top of the visitor bleachers. Man, it was a stick. He could lay some wood son. All those guys were tough, Elliott included.
    • They do have good community support for sure and did when I coached under Z for 4 years. (I was on that staff that turned them around a little from winning 1 game a year to actually being competitive).  Great Kids and Great Community over there.  They have done some good things with the facilities from when i coached too.
    • I personally will not mind that one bit.  It seems like a really strange fit to me from the git go.
