In reading the articles in the TFP this morning by my buddy Stephen Hargis I can say I just sit in disbelief at this situation. My first guess as the main reason for this is the principal must be dealing with little man issues either in height or in other areas of his anatomy. I'd also say that he must be a little crazy because I'd be surprised if he survived the summer in the job. I can only imagine the size of the mob forming to go after him.

What a shame. Coach High deserves better. There's probably no counting how many kids stayed in school and got diplomas because of him.

Total disrespect to a man who has done so much for Chattanooga basketball, as well as the state of Tennessee. So much for honoring loyalty to ONE program. This is why you see so many coaches in all sports go from school to school.....no one respect those who are loyal. It might be different if he didn't produce on the floor, but we all know he did. Good luck to Coach High....Chattanooga basketball will not be the same!

The new principal at Brainerd is a big guy... And is not afraid to go againgst the grain... I respect that because change had to come one day... Just because High built the program doesn't mean that he owns the program... Maybe because I'm a Howard fan Is the reason I don't sympathize for him...he hasn't taught for years... So how could he be affective by just showing up for school and practicing basketball... This isnt college... Those boys need a coach that if they come to school and have issues with all that's going on at Brainerd they need their coach to vent and help guide them in the right direction... This Brainerd ball staff wasn't there... One is retired, one works at Howard and the other works a 9 to 5 somewhere so where do they turn for guidance? Now you do have to respect what he has done in the past but we all know sports is like what have you done for me lately... The game had passed Bowles... And now it has passed High...in order for that program to be where it once was they needed a new era because high hasn't been feared as a coach since the 90s

I think many are discounting the role Bill Byron played in this program.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
