Week 0 Huntingdon at Obion County

I didnt see a forum for this in the 2A or 4A board so I thought I'd make the topic.  

 

The Huntingdon Mustangs finished last season 12-3 ending the season losing in the state championship to Gordonsville.

Obion County had a struggle last season going 2-8.

 

However every year can be different and Huntingdon lost a lot of key players last year.  They have also got some great playmakers back as well as some people looking to step it up.

 

So who do you got and why???

I dont know if anyone knows I would love to hear it, there must be something going on in that area that time of year cause I remember 3 & 4 years ago we had to play Martin Westview first game of the season on a Thursday night now we are playing Saturday night.  If anyone knows a reason why Waker asked agood question

Possibly due to the fact that there are no other games being played at that time.  No high school games and no college football games for people to watch, so it could bring a larger crowd to cheer on these two teams.

Also think last year they were having trouble finding enough officials.May not be the reason for this game but dont think they are getting enough people to get in the officiating field and maybe will do this some games to help cover the games.Think that is why there were Thursday games last year.

When Jackson was coaching at Obion, they would throw the ball around some.  With the new coach, I hear they are a run first double wing team.  If this is the case, Huntingdon's defense should have a field day.  I am going with Huntingdon in this one 35-14.

Obion County has some decent size up front, and to be quite honest, they had more success against our starting front 7 than Dickson County or Milan. Or at least early in the scrimmage they did. They actually scored the first touchdown of the night and then had a 2nd good drive going that was stalled by a fumble. That may not mean much since it was a scrimmage and we didn't gameplan for their misdirection, but still an interesting note.

 

They didn't appear to have a ton of speed on defense, and they missed their only extra point attempt of the night. Their style of play could do well in terms of shortening games, but the Mustangs live for that kind of ball.

 

I'll take Huntingdon by 2 or 3 scores.

Good luck to both teams, heres to hoping everyone on both teams is injury free and has a safe trip home.  Our game I believe is the only game tonight so should be a decent crowd plus we should make paper tommorrow.  GO MUSTANGS!!!!!!
