Thoughts? Predictions? I think HC wins but I don't know much about Rossview.

HC is the real deal.  This will be a scrimmage with JV playing the 2nd half.

Power rankings not even close ... especially considering when HC takes the number 1 spot this week when the new rankings are released.  Here's the numbers as of today:

16  HENRY COUNTY   5A     3   0   0   110.36     134.34

130 ROSSVIEW            6A     3   0   0   107.58     106.50

Henry County doesn't stand a chance.  Rossview is playing 15 games and will be playing for the Class 6A State Championship this December.  There isn't a 5A team in the state that's on their level.  They've already spanked Hillsboro, McGavock, and Stratford.  Henry County doesn't have the same type of speed as do any of those Metro schools.

Rossview:  56

Henry County:  14 (if they're lucky)

Rossview is much improved, yes. But putting 56 points on HC is not going to happen. If Ridgeway can't muster more than 14 points until 15 seconds to go in the game, then you should know that amount of speed doesn't matter. I really do hope that Rossview plays 15 games this year. This should be a good game though.

FactsOnly:

1  We have been waiting on someone to say something like this all year!

2  Henry County doesn't have the same speed as anyone we will play this year, Metro or not

3  4-12 is the combined record of Rossview opponents so far this year

5  The combined record of Henry County opponents is, surprisingly, 6-8

6  The combined record of Rossview opponents this year after Friday will be between 9-16 and 13-12

7  Rossview High School far exceeds the state's achievement score average in Math

8  Rossview High School sports state championships in Wrestling, Girl's Golf, and Track and Field

9  Henry County's only state championship is in Football, which is featured this Friday night

9  Due to Fact #7, FactsOnly will not vigorously defend Fact #6

I have not seen Rossview this year, so who knows, maybe they can compete, very doubtful tho,  I would be willing bet 3 months pay that Rossview will not play 15 games this year and 2 months pay that they will not play 13 games this year, they have beaten no one of relevence.  Henry county has beaten 2 5a teams (ridgeway and Beech) and 4a Liberty that would beat that 6a rossview team 9 out of 10.  see yas

You guys - Drew, Facts, Prophet - are old enough to know when someone is simple pulling your chain, like howdoitknow2.

Still 6 games to be played, and HC has been beat before by teams that they shouldn't have (Clarksville a few years back). One game at a time.

BTW Prophet, how would you compare this years Patriots Band with the Fairley Band of 2006?

Especially about the percussion section.

Fact #9 is incorrect. HCHS holds two state championships in women's golf thanks to Paula Carter.

In my not so humble opinion and extensive marching arts knowledge and experience, corps styles bands and show bands are not comparable nor on the same musical level.

So that I can expand my repository of Facts, could your give just a brief description of the differences between "corps style" and "show" as it refers to bands?

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
