Congrats to SHG. From the bits and pieces i saw we deserved to lose this game. #2 for them absolutely abused our secondary and we couldn't come close to stopping the read/option. No way to beat good teams playing that sloppy and letting their O march down field at will. They brought their A game and we brought our D+ and got embarrassed. Lets get it together Tigers, minor setback for a major comeback!

Are you serious? Are you really serious? I thought it was extremely timely and funny comment since SHG went for two and failed. I am watching the game online. If we can't kid around about things, then we have bigger issues. Just despise me. I'm not one to call out a whole group of people because of the actions of one person. So just DESPISE me. And get a sense of humor.

I thought it was pretty funny   I also think it shows a lot of maturity for a Maryville fan to be able to make a joke about it...if anyone would have a reason to be uptight about the situation, it would be them. SMH

I watched alot of the game ... That offense is hard to stop ESP when a team does not see it often or practice against it. I know Whitehaven has the athletes to compete with most anybody. Father ryan beat the pants off of BA earlier this year and they run a R Option. It creates alot of confusion and you can't always out athlete an offense that runs it. I think Whitehaven will learn from this loss ... Shg was on its game today

Memphis Central is a better team this year then what they have been in years past. Their coach is in his third year if I'm not mistaken. They run a read option offense and their athletic QB gave us fits as well. This isn't the first time we've seen this offense.

We've got some growing up to do. That's why you line them up and play them. Shooting yourself in the foot all game with unnecessary penalties will not get it done against quality competition. Good game from SHG. Their kicker kept us pinned back all game except for when he had to kick it into the wind.

The fact that we didn't score an offensive TD in the 2nd half speaks volumes to me. I know our WR dropped what seemed to be a sure TD pass ... but we didn't sustain a drive against a patient defense in the second half either.

There is much work to be done.

That's why I LOVE the theme for this years team that coach Saulsberry phrased... "Hungry & Humble".

Those young men and coaches will have a long time to think and reflect on the long drive home. Let's learn from this one and keep everything in it's proper perspective and we should be fine.

Next Week ... East!

From the SHG board

All. This game was quite interesting. BlackHavenSenator from  the Tenn. board (Coach T)  started that "low brow" smack talk about SHG. Good cop bad cop stufff. (lol) I sent his comments over to  one of the players that distributed it around and they were amused. As for the game. the Cyclones are getting better. I would of liked to see a running clock but am satisfied with  this win. Ratsy P.S. If the Tigers get that far Maryville will maul them.....

Maryville fans can KICK rocks... Yall can't dictate nor define the way I "act" on a message board... Forget yall... We played pretty bad. They (SHG) played decent enough... #2 Malik Turner showed why he will be a Big 10 WR... The adjustments we made were not good enough to beat those guys... #6 has a popcorn arm still (pure Heath Schuler style). #9 was good and #78 was as big or bigger as I said. A Poster's (ME) comments doesn't help a team win OR lose. heck there were more folks that PICKED AGAINST Whitehaven and we STILL LOST. I wish I could face off with some of you clowns and just talk bad (football wise and otherwise) to yall. You folks are losers and want to project yall loser ways on people who are greater than a dang ole message board. Good game SHG. Whitehaven still has the rest of the season to make it back to the Upper Cumberland. :hungry:

I didn't get to see any of the game, but I'm sure it was a much needed test and wakeup call for our guys!! We can't play catch up against a good team and expect to win all the time....like every regular season game we have, we are that teams state title game. Well this was ours and we blew it.....keep this game film real close coach, trust we are gone need it.....good thing is, we have plenty of football left, and time to correct mistakes......

    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
