I for one think its great what Gerry does! If you don't like it then don't read it and don't get on here and bash him! ( Thanks for everything you do on here Gerry)

Not bashing him...just saying after week 5, 6, or even 7 is in not near accurate to what it will look like after week 10. It is fine if he wants to do it. Just expect it to change every week.

It really doesn't matter who occupies the other half of the bracket. East Tennessee is where great football is played. I believe thats been proven over and over again. Ask the Milans and the(snicker) the goodpastures of the world. Even when CAK has won it the last two years, the two best teams in 3A were in the same region. That's why I don't follow polls, because they go by record. If they actually knew anything about football then ALCOA would be #1.We prove that year after year.Whoever is voting CPA #1 only means its just a bunch of wishful thinkers.

over the last 20 years, I think Trousdale, Brentwood Acd, Ensworth, and Riverale would disagree with you. And if we look at talent, Memphis area puts more D1 out than the rest of entire state combined most years.

Then you don't have to comment. I think it is a great idea because the lack of education on the playoff system after 5 years is still out there. Why not educate? Heck the TSSAA doesn't even do it right with their weekly playoff rankings. I don't get your debbie downer attitude about things. I know many people who enjoy the discussion and enjoy watching the playoffs take shape every year.

Where do you see Smith Co at if they win out and finish 6-4? And I know Upperman is solid as #1 seed if they are 10-0, but how far do they drop if they finish 9-1?

Brentwood Acad. and Ensworth are privates that recruit (so they don't count). Riverdale hasn't been very good lately even when they thought they were (see their past few games against Maryville) and may never be relevant again that I can see. I don't even look at those single A teams. (its like watching middle school teams play).

we will see how it shakes out, but the hardest district in state is the murfeesboro district year in and out. And many 6a fans think looking at 3a Alcoa is like pee wee ball. I would put the 97 Trousdale team up against any Alcoa team. Edited by UpperCumberlandMan

I don't want to speak for Gerry or step on his toes, but I'll take a shot at this and let him correct me if I'm wrong.

If Smith wins out and gets #2 in the district at 6-4, and is in Quad 2, most likely they would have a 4 seed behind Upperman, Polk, and Notre Dame.

If Upperman ends up 9-1, they still are #1 in the district, but could slip to a 2 seed behind Polk, if Polk were to win out. I believe Polk could edge them on "quality" opponents.

I may have to hire you on staff Charlie. Great job, however understand their is a possibility Westmoreland comes over to Quad 2 as they are this week and that would bump Smith to a 5 Westmoreland would be a 3 and Notre Dame the 4.

    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
