Super 32 in Greensboro... Updates and Highlights...

Let's remember that this is a true national tournament that includes many of the top ranked wrestlers in the country at the lower & middle weights.  It looks like several of the Tennessee guys treated it like some local preseason tournament and failed to make weight which is totally unacceptable. Were some of these guys thinking that this was a Fall Break vacation to Greensboro, NC?  If a wrestler is not going to focus and train like this is a "Big Time" event they should stay home and save their parents hard earned money.  Tennessee had a great run at Fargo because the wrestlers trained hard all Summer.  One cannot say the same for Super 32 this year with most of the elite Tennessee wrestlers taking a major step backwards while the top D1 coaching staffs in the country were watching.

You guys have to understand that 120, 126, 132 were by far the toughest weights in this tournament, with 132 being the most definite toughest. Non of the other weight classes were even close in comparison with 132...For instance you had Tate Robinson who is nationally ranked lose his first match.... You had Brock Erving who is ranked 7 in the nation basically get etched in the quarters.... Then you still have Kemmerer and Krisis and like four other absolute studs.... Then to top it off it was the biggest weight class with 180 wrestlers..... So you have to recognize Tate Robinson and Connell and who ever else was there from our home state.... Then at 120 Debien who got second in Fargo goes 2-0 at 120....and Stevenson who normally does well at this tournament goes 1-2....just saying give these guys a little more respect.... Because none of the other weights even compared to these.... Don't throw down on the rest of our wrestlers just because only one makes it to the second day with returning 106 pounders.... Congrats to all Tennessee wrestlers in the toughest tournament in the nation by far....

I refuse to "Sugar Coat" the overall performance of the Tennessee wrestlers.  If the elite Tennessee wrestlers truly want to get signed by the major D1 programs they need to have a strong performance at Super 32 or stay home.  Having a substandard performance only hurts their ability to get $$$ from one of the major programs.  IMO, it's difficult to peak at Fargo and then peak again at Super 32.  Most wrestlers stay off the mat from the end of Fargo until around Labor Day which is in early September.  That time frame does not give the wrestlers a full twelve week training cycle so that they are able to peak again at Super 32.  I feel that Oliver who has been training with the "Italian Stallion" Vince Gioiella did the correct thing and stayed home in Memphis if he was not going to be ready to win the tournament.

Okay let's just get this straight.... I am sick of hearing about Fargo.... Fargo does not even compare to super 32.... First off Fargo is divided by age groups... Then it's a freestyle and Greco-Roman tournament and there alot of studs out there that have never even wrestled a single freestyle match in there life..... Also super 32 is right at the beginning of the season when alot of people are starting to train and think about the season and are ready to kick some button.... Then finally as proof you have Debien that makes it to the finals at Fargo and goes 0-2 at Super 32....Oliver may not have even placed if he wrestled at Super 32.... Alot of you guys on here haven't even been to this tournament to see how tough it is... It is a tougher tournament than ncaas at this age group.... Truth... Plus our Tennessee wrestlers did alright two of which earned themselves spots as the top 16 wrestlers in the nation at there weight.... They just didn't place top 8

    • Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.
    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
