You may be right but I'm thinking gore or alum.

Not saying Gore is a bad hire, but on paper, he hardly sticks out as a guy that would be a good candidate for this job. Does he interview well? Popular with the players, anything like that? Overton is probably the best job in Metro right now, I figured they would do better.

Gore could have had the Brentwood job the first time before pemberton was hired if he had wanted it. He is good with kids and is a respected coach. I think I'll predict the alum may get this one though. Really depends on who Pelham listens to. I think some would tell him gore. Some would tell him alum. Some would tell him Fitzgerald.

What defense did Overton run last year? Your "alum" did a heck of a job in a primarily 5 man front (didnt hurt that he had some great talent on that defense)

Overton had an even front. I don't know who the next coach will be but I do know Anderson left the cupboard fully stocked and he was very torn about leaving. He thought and still does think that Overton will be even better next year than they were this year. They have a great line coming back on both sides of the ball, a great TE coming back from injury, two guys who would have started at receiver coming back from injury along with all of the other offensive starters except Martin. Two guys coming back at QB that could start if Amadi is switched. I would probably have him play slot and try to get him in the open field more. All of the defense comes back as well except for Martin. If Overton can find a kicker they will have the makings for another good run. The schedule is pretty tough and even a good team could end up with a few losses. Ryan is always a tough game, centennial should be good with their stud rb coming back, ravenwood should be even better, and Hillsboro will be tough. Add in cane ridge that is always loaded with athletes and that could be five losses. Just goes to show you what a good job the Overton staff and team did this past year. Hopefully the new coach will keep things going.

Anyone hearing anything about who it will be?

Didn't Overton lose Lawrence, Scott and #27 off the defense this past year? If I recall they had quite a few seniors...

    • It was not ACHS at all, they have zero reason to worry about Clinton.  It had to do with a kid (non football player)  that had a charge and appeared in front of the juvenile judge.  The judge saw that the kid was way behind credit wise for his grade and told him to reappear in a month with a plan to graduate.  When the kid reappeared he had more that twice the credits than one month before.  The judge called BS and contacted the school.  That is what started the investigation.  This involves multiple students, but to this point no athletes are involved.
    • I believe the Covington Chargers travel to Trenton Peabody for a scrimmage today? Anyone going to this? Curious how the Chargers will do.
    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
