Disappointments of 2013

I'll start with the most obvious! The overrated and overhyped Grace Christian Academy Rams failed to make it to the championship in what was suppose to be the greatest 2A team ever assembled.

I agree, Tyrone.  South Pittsburg losing another championship game was also a dissapointment.

I almost forgot about them. They had a key player out with an injury. I guess he was all they had!

Coalfield lost four key players to season ending injuries. I heard they lost two more starters during the pitt game with knee injuries.  That would be  tough on any team  and real tough on a team with 35 players. I would say they still had a decent year making the semi finals.

Copper Basin was a big disappointment to Me in the 2013 Season. Injuries just killed them. I think CB rebounds and makes the Playoffs in 2014.

The injuries Coalfield had would hurt any team. They showed courage and heart with such a remarkable year. Can't wait for next year!

Have some big parts to replace but have some talent to make that possible IMO

Just noticing that a lot of the disappointments are due to teams having injuries....something I have been thinking about this year, have you ever seen the amount of knee injuries we are seeing today?  I graduated in mid 80's and I can't remember having anywhere near the amount of injuries (especially knee) that we are seeing today.  Anyone else have the same thoughts?

Jake brings up a great point. You see many more knee injuries in today's athletes than back in the 70's, 80's or even the 90's. Injuries definitely play a part in some teams being disappointments for the season. As for disappointments regardless of the reason. I would have to say that Grace Christian is at the top of the list. I don't think anyone, including myself expected to see them lose. It's a disappointment at SP anytime they lose. That's just the way it is here. Memphis Mitchell not making more noise was a big shocker to me as well.
