He is going to. He is taking the Job at Karns. This is a mistake. Karns is getting a younger version of Meadows. A man that does not care about the school he is at and will bounce around. You have to ask your self why anyone would leave Powell to take Job at Karns.

IMO...this post is incorrect because Meadows is a winner.

Maybe Kilgore is taking the Karns job because he knows there is not as much pressure to deliver results?

Less pressure....at Powell, he can go 7-3 and get beat in the first round of playoffs and the season was a failure......at Karns, if he goes 7-3 and makes the playoffs, they are ecstatic.....if he does it over one or two years in a row, they would put his statue outside the stadium.

Jake that is so true, sad that the AD didn't want better for the kids someone who would be a WOW factor, I guess as it as been said by me and others coaching not that important in Knox county, maybe Karns can get a project grad status and get some of those recruits floating around that Fulton doesn't get.

AE is project grad as well. What was their record this past year.

No established coach in a smaller system is going to leave their job for a Knox Co job, just a fact.  Karns probably only had about 5 applications of people that could even hire.  Kilgore was probably the most qualified, even with his modest experience.  Why he would even apply remains to be seen.  Look at Central, they have had to extend their posting 3-4 times since November.  Their principal has even called prospective candidates, guaging interest.  All of them declined.  It's just the reality of the system.  Halls had the same problem last year, and had no other options but to give it to that interim guy.

Project grad is more or less designed to help less fortunate inner city kids. That's why AE and Fulton have it. Every other school is leaps and bounds above those two when it comes to financial funding of academics so Karns will have to find a different way to get the program in the right direction.

What if someone who is currently on an NCAA D1 staff, who has been a coordinator at both the high school and college levels, applied at Karns, and was told he didn't have the experience they were looking for?

That be the dumbest thing ever as far as quality but maybe Karns was just wanting to have a guy they could semi control.

    • Honestly the A.D. may be powerless at Maryville to some degree versus other schools. I know he has his hands full with GoFan and all the stupid surprises just from the emails he sends out during the season.
    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
