Cheatham County @ CPA: Class AA Sectional Battle

Recommended Posts

After reading all of these pro CPA posts, I have come to the conclusion that they are playing by the rules.  They admit MANY TIMES that these are the rules that we have and NO ONE at CPA is doing anything against the rules.  This is why there MUST be a split.  Your right it is ok for the coach of the AAU team, that was handpicked, is able to recruit the kids to show up on campus so that then the CPA officials can talk with them.  Then Work studies is allowed as Aide.  Yes, every student at CPA pays something, but interesting how they can make it work and get that payment down for those that can play the game better than others.  I also know of a private school that took one brother in as a student, but did not admit the other brother.  Interesting that he was not as good of a student and/or basketball player.  That very same family could have gone to the public school and that school would have had no choice but to take both.

If Greenfield feels this is a problem they have a right to complain because they are a public school playing in a league they were placed. They have to play in 1A. TCA has a choice. I did not complain 1 time when TCA drilled us in football, moe power to them. It became a problem when you realized your basketball team is not on the level of Mitchell and BTW. Although you beat 2 Memphis schools before but they were in your GYM. I will never complain about your football team. I even rooted for you all to win it all.

Hey Galilee, you have blinders on and only see it your way! We are talking about enrollment numbers. My argument was referring to schools with much larger enrollments versus smaller enrollment. We aren't talking about private versus public. I can complain all I want because I pay taxes and have that right! And by the way if Memphis was soooo much better than TCA in basketball then why did they allow a little bitty school like TCA beat them in 2012 and 2013. It DOESN'T matter that it was in our gym! If you were that much better it would not have mattered where we played. I'm tired of hearing "you chose to play in that league". That's an incredibly weak argument!

I do not have blinders. As for TCA can handle Memphis teams, I just don't see them on that level in Basketball. Nobody on this years team would really contribute if they played for Mitchell or BTW. I have seen Humboldt and UC and that applies the same to those teams.  The skill set is not there. The first time you all played away from home it was a rout. BTW, Booker T and MAHS defeated you all at home. The only player I saw in 15A that would be a factor on any of those four teams is the kid at Adamsville. I heard the kid at Middleton was good but I have not seen him. As I stated last week those four have basketball players not just atlhetes. The guards at TCA are not on the level of the guards at Mitchell, BTW< UC or Humbdolt. Now they are good but not at that level. In all sports home court is important. Anyway I see noting wrong with TCA or JC playing in a public league because they decided to that. If they don't like the enrollment requirements it is a TSSAA who decided that. That is my thought on this. Maybe if I see them play next year I may change my thought.

I know you said you are done, but maybe you are still lurking here--I proved some allegations regarding Blackwell, with very clear cut evidence, a conversation from his facebook page, stating that Jalen Lindsey's mom called his mom.  Shortly after that, he was enrolled in CPA, even though he said he'd planned to go to Ensworth.  I still have it. I'd be happy to share it with you.  It's been sent to the TSSAA as well. Funny thing is, once I posted it here (without links or identifying info--it was taken off his facebook rather quickly)

Don't get me worng--I do NOT fault the players in any of this, I recognize their talent and work ethic, and commend them for it. However, I do fault the adults who know better, and have helped make this team.  If you can honestly believe that there have been no rules broken with  creating this team, I have some swampland with a bridge to sell you.

Dad1, at least you reserved your one post, but I'm guessing there will be more, since you've promised your last post on more than one occasion! Talk about credibility.

Amen

And the more coach77 posts the more I realize how little he knows of the inner workings of these organizations.  Whatever type of "investigation" was conducted, I know all the principal parties were not contacted so it was not complete.  And if not complete, what type of conclusions do you think would be drawn?  My guess is he was not even part of this "investigation" (correct me if I am wrong) and simply reporting what he has been told which supports what he wants to believe.  I get it, I was there once until it was proven to me differently.

I know coach77 does not always know what he says he knows.  He did this to me before a few years ago when he tried to speak of my specific situation pubilicly on one of these threads.  When he was shown where he was wrong do you think I received an apology? Not a chance.  Now he says I make false accusations and speak in half-truths and innuendos (which is false), but if a authority or governing association finds out there have been violations, then he will offer a public apology and seek me out privately.  He speaks out of both sides of his mouth.

As long as people hear what they want to hear, they don't seem to care if they have ALL of the facts or not. And when presented with FACTS, they go radio silent, as if ignoring it, will change the facts.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
