Look we know you obviously have connections to him or are him. Wingman wasn't meaning anything bad. He was probably referring to "the risk" as he is an unproven coach as of now.[/quote

Who is we? I was just asking a question, I was under the impression this was a discussion forum.

Sure it is I was just letting you know that wingman wasn't meaning anything bad toward you. Bryant is at Sequatchie now? That's an interesting move.

Nick interviewed at Sequatchie yesterday. I heard it was coming a few days back. Haven't heard anything about anyone going with him. Keep in mind boys and girls a lot of what I hear is second and third hand. So no point in talking about anything until there's something solid to go with it. The fact that Nick was seen in Dunlap yesterday made it more real. I got the info that he was there yesterday while I was in Columbia. I'm in Knoxville today so no telling what I'll hear. Maybe Johnny Majors is back on the market.....

What are you talking about? Toward Me? I'm Lost. Sorry I posted. I see now why so few people post on here.

LMBO Interviewing after school has already started back this semester seems kind of strange.

He wasn't trying to bash the coaching candidate is what I was saying.

Grundy should go ahead and name their coach. Get the kids in the training room. They only interveiwed a select few and no contact with other candidates. Why drag this out, put the coach in place and move on. Keeping the post open for another week is a joke.

On another note I the rumor is true Good Luck to you Nick.

I haven't seen the resumes. I only know of the 3 interviews so far but I haven't asked in a while. I can say this. Our director of schools is a firm believer in doing things by the book. Therefore since the posting isn't up until Thursday at 3:00 pm then he can't or won't name anyone. If someone wants to apply between now and then I'm sure their application will be considered. However like anywhere else that hires people...some don't make it past the application. People check people out these days. If you've been in the news and the news is not good you may not get an interview. I'm currently a supervisor. I've hired people. I've culled many just by reading their application or checking them out. They never got an interview. Such is life. I can tell you that I've Googled at least 3 of the names that have come up and found articles that would cause me not to give them an interview if I were in charge.

The posting is up this week. I'm sure we'll have a coach named before too much longer.

I thank God that people in my past have not judged me by past mistakes or TVA wouldn't have given me the opportunity to succeed and be a supervisor. I am very sure that every individual would be in trouble of succeeding if we were judged on past discretions. I imagine there are several Apostles that are thankful they were given second chances. Don't get me wrong, some things would disqualify any individual. If you wanted just a great Christian guy then you had him in Nick Bryant. If you want to win hire the best football coach.

How far in the past are those mistakes? Everyone makes mistakes and it takes everyone TIME to get over them. It also takes others TIME to give people a second chance. Thinks that have happened in the last year or 2 may not have had enough TIME to get over.

You can't just hire anyone anymore and if you think you can you're blind. The world is a lot smaller than it used to be. To think that someone can screw up big time and it's just looked over 5 minutes later is silly.

Why don't you quit playing games and say who you want hired...and why? Why do you care about Grundy football? If you're from the valley what difference does it make to you? This would be like me dominating a thread about who to hire in Jasper when the world knows I don't care about football in Jasper. They could go 0-100000 and I wouldn't care.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
