Shandon Lyle was the real deal. What a competitor. I wish we had 22 of him, and I'm sure everybody else wishes the same. He's also a great kid off the field. Good luck to the Green Wave, bring home a District 3 Win!

I second what you said. He was an athlete and knew how to play quarterback. He was very smart and elusive and knew what to do with the football.

He has a brother on the team now, and another one in middle school. The one in high school was getting some carries with the first team during the jamboree. There is rumor he may turn out to even be a little better than Shandon. It seems that every time a Lyle comes up they continue to improve.

The last really good team that was at Midway was in 1989.

Lance Wheaton got creamed in the game in the playoffs and that injury relegated him to place holder for 4 years at UT.  I say him play QB for the Orange & White game in spring and he beat Peytons unit 2 times.  He could throw it. I think he was the best passing Class A QB I ever saw.

    • Tough situation.  Not sure the ROI is there right now.   Might be better options that are cheaper.
    • Yeah summer ball is really fun, but a lot of coaches are trying to play several kids to get much needed reps that they are not accustomed to. I would imagine Gibson County will have lots of players playing to get much needed reps. Want to win games but got to get experience as well and the rotation will be much deeper. I will be at MTSU, UTM Bethel and others. MTSU is the one I really look forward to.
    • So who are the new additions to the staff? Serious answers only please.
    • Its always interested to see the state teams the following summer after losing or not losing seniors and getting freshman and transfers. It's almost time.
    • Maryville has Alcoa on the schedule at the right time of the season which helped last year instead of at the first of the year not knowing much. West will be hard pressed to repeat this year but next will be a different story.
