It is though. Don't get me wrong it's good pizza, but what pizza place isn't good? It's always crowded and it's expensive as heck. The last time I went in there was before the Oak Ridge/Science Hill game was in 2012. I was by myself and got a small pizza and drink and spent over 15$. The other thing that stinks about big ed's is they don't have a diverse menu. If you go to any other pizza place in the country you can get salads,chicken wings, and bread sticks/cheesy bread but not at Big Ed's. They just have pizza on paper plates.

Ate there after a baseball tournament this summer. You're right, it's expensive. It was good. But I can get good pizza a lot cheaper.

I know this thread is about state champions but I was thinking about national champions. Haven't we had two named national champions. Oak Ridge & Tennessee High. Am I right? Are there more?

HarHar. I still say pizza is pizza. And I say that as a guy that has worked in a pizza joint. Pizza is always good, unless we are talking about the junk that passes for pizza in school cafeterias. Don't get me wrong, I like big ed's. It is a cool little hole in the wall you want to go to when you are in OR. But it is nothing like people crack it up to be. It's just another pizza joint except it doesn't have chicken wings, salad, or cheese sticks on the menu. Edited September 29, 2014 by Governors91

Not sure what we were ranked nationally. Just my pick for one of the best state champ teams ever in Tennessee. But I guess I'm a little bias

Me and a friend of mine went to Big Ed's Pizza while in route to Gatlinburg a few years ago. I thought it was good. Was it the best ever, no. Was it worth the extra few dollars, in my opinion yes!! I love little hole in the wall local joints that do not have the national advertising. I would definitely go back if I could find it.

 

Side football note, I would like to play Oak Ridge again in a state title game. Gallatin/Oak Ridge would bring back a lot of memories.

Y'all played us in 91 and then turned around and played our next door neighbors Clinton the year after. I wonder how many times two teams from the same county (Anderson) (Oak Ridge & Clinton) have went to the state title game in consecutive years in the same class? I bet that hasn't happened much if ever!
