Waverly at Lewis Co

Lewis County played a 4-4 defense very successfully against Fairview and Zimmerman. It was pretty effective I thought. They cover well. Smith will tuck and run a lot Friday night. Probably going to make the trip to see this one on our bye week.

When smith is made to tuck and run.... he is VERY HARD to bring down. As its been evident the last 6 games... I will say the next 4 games our JV probably wont get to play almost the entire 2nd half as they have these first 6 games. It will be a better ballgame.... but waverlys still gonna be up to 7-0 after fridays matchup.... imo

Is it still gonna be considered an upset if Waverly does knock off powerhouse Sharp and company? Legimate question and not meant to ruffle any feathers....

Not in my eyes. I mean, you're talking about a 6-0 team vs a 3-3 team.

I think it has historical significance though. As far as I'm aware Waverly has never defeated Lewis County in football and to do so for the first time would be a particularly special achievement for Waverly. Savor the flavor and do it with dignity though. You can bet Lewis won't be down for very long.

Camden played Goodpasture I think. I know it was a private school. Jeff Fishers' son was the back up QB for the team. Every single player was just about the same height. They all ran 6 ft 2 to 6ft 3 maybe and the lineman were massive at that height. They ran timing pass plays. You would have thought they were a college team. Their head coach and a couple of their assistants were former NFL players. Look at Milan. Dominated for years. Managed to win the Gold Ball some. I'm not sure how many but I know a couple. They get to the championship a lot though but don't win. Private schools will tell you they donr recrute. That's bull. West Tennessee and a lot of middle Tn. teams are all rural communities. They are basically running teams with the wing T being the prefered. They see very little of passing attack teams. If you don't see it then you don't learn to defend against it. How many teams in this district challenge the wide recievers or bump them at the line. The way to beat a passing team that throws timing playe is to bumt that reciever at the line. That throws off the timing play. You have to disrupt their rythem. Look at Lewis last year. The dominated till they hit the playoffs and had to play the private schools. If you want to win the Gold Ball, your Defense has to be awsome against the run and the pass. With that you can take a great running game and win. It all comes down to defense. That's why Seattle beat denver the way they did last year. Their defense dominated the Broncos.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
