East TN 5A Regions for 2015 & 2016

White Co could go with Franklin Co, Shelbyville and Lincoln Co or go with the I-40 corridor of Sumner Co and possibly the Rutherford Co schools. I think the Clarksville, Henry Co, Dickson region gets left alone unless they go with 3 regions in middle. Then you would have to add some metros in there with them. Splitting metro or keeping it intact is also an issue with a division of 4 vs 3 regions. I think Rhea will go to the Chatt area teams.

Well, their is just as good if not better competition in 5A than in 6A with the excpetion of Maryville and the Rutherford Co teams. Gaddis always planned on staying in 5A. We just don't have the numbers anymore. We are in the 1300's

Clinton's numbers are way down too. That's why I was surprised we decided to play up in 5A, but I do like the decision.

I'd say Fulton and Catlik had something to do with that lol. We were going to stay in 5A whether Maryville moved up or stayed 5A. I talked to Gaddis tonight actually and he said AC and DB will be on the schedule next year.

I'd say you're right abt Fulton & Catholic lol. AC & DB are great non-region games for OR!

Yeah getting the DB rivalry back on schedule will be nice. Plus, West isn't going to be the West they have been next year that they have been the past 4 years. They will take a little bit of a backwards step. Not sure for how long, though? With the exception of Maryville & Alcoa teams usually take a few years to rebuild back up.

I'll admit that the thought that we should have moved up to 5A has crossed my mind! I don't know what Fulton will have but Catholic appears to be pulling them in from all over. They've got a sophomore (no. 5) who is starting who is zoned for OR or maybe Clinton! He played for Claxton. Just one of many.

The kids that go to Catholic go there because they want to!!! Nobody forces them to or persuades them AT ALL TJ!!!!!! LOL

Waiting for the Catlik posters to jump in and lambaste us in 5 4 3 2 1.........

Catlik recruits more than anyone probably. I only say this because I witnessed it 1st hand. Some more examples would be silvy played for loudon and amari played at Fulton in middle school. So along with #5 mentioned above and at least 1 more sophomore who has started every game this season (and did not take the full ride offer lol) those are some difference makers. And if I know of that many who knows how many more they have. Bottom line give any team the 4 kids I just mentioned by the time they are seniors you have purchased several wins.

Just for the record Fulton will still take catlik to the woodshed!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
