This just shows how idiotic this plan is.  Imagine this ballgame for next year.  Bearden 0-10  travels to Maryville 10-0.  When kids play on a winless football team it is a tremendous grind and just grueling on the players parents and fans to endure, then that team is "rewarded" with one more on the road thrashing.  Yeah!  we get to go get demolished one more time, yeah!   It's absurd.

Brackets would be set up just like they are in 1A-5A, so that particular scenario wouldnt happen

No it's 1 seed vs the 8 seed from the opposing region. So it would be Bearden at Blackman and Coffee Co at Maryville

I may be stating the obvious here but it's a little silly to assume that teams like bearden and lebanon are going to be going 0-10. Personally I expect Bearden to be much better next year. Secondly mediocre to bad teams have been getting killed by really good teams in the 1st round of the playoffs for years. I'm not sure why some of you are acting like that's gonna be a new thing in this new 6A class.

It will more likely be something like 0-10 Warren Co (I don't know how good they are...just example purposes) traveling all the way to 10-0 Maryville.  That is quite a trip and considerable expense for some programs that might not have the resources.  I know that you can play up the David vs Goliath angles but at some points kids are realistic.

Has the TSSAA stated for sure that the match ups in the first round would be from opposing regions?  I haven't been able to find anything for sure.  Someone help me out.

Regardless, bad teams have been getting blown out by good teams in the first round for years.  I hate the idea of every team making the playoffs personally.

You are right about the blow-outs but at least it has been a 4-6 or 3-7 team at the worst. We will definitely see 0-10 vs 10-0. Big temptation to skip that blowout but the TSSAA would probably lay a fine on the forfeiting school because of lost gate revenue.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
