What's the bottom number for 4a as it stands now? Putnam County is growing, but DeKalb County isn't. Our middle school seems to be losing students every year. Unless the number to join 4a is adjusted, I'm not sure if DC will reach it when they reexamine it all and reclassify teams. To be honest, DC would probably do better in 3a than 4a anyways. Would you rather be one of the largest 3a schools, or one of the smallest 4a schools, ya know?

I thought 4a started at 850 but I could be wrong.

any chance Smith Co ever consoidating into a 925-975 4a school? In 2012, a combined Smith Co could have give Fulton a run for thier money.

Nope - tried a couple times but failed. The school board voted to combine the schools but the commissioners left it up to the people for a vote and it failed twice. Since then a major building program concluded with a new HS at G'ville and renovation at SC. Never seen a body of water, Cumberland River, separate a county as it does here.

People often think hyperthermia is a winter time thing when your cold. The truth is more people die from hyperthermia in the summer than any other season.

" Contrary to popular belief, the air temperature does not have to be below freezing for hypothermia to occur. Hypothermia strikes anytime weather conditions, including rain, or water temperatures lower a person’s core body temperature below 95° F. Because people are less likely to be prepared for cold conditions during warmer months, summertime exposure to the cold is more likely to turn into a deadly situation. Most cases of hypothermia, during any season, occur when people are working or playing outdoors."

Prayers to the player and his family.

You are confusing hyperthermia with hypothermia.

Hyperthermia = high body temp

Hypothermia = low body temp

Do we not just use the terms heat stroke anymore? Hypo body can no longer warm itself, hyper body can no longer cool itself. As of yesterday at 5pm, kid was in stable but still critical condition. Please keep him and hhis parents in your prayers.

I would think heat stroke is the correct term also. Yes...praying for a complete speedy recovery. This can happen at any time in these temps.

It should have been done the last time. Not doing it cost this county millions. With virtually two new schools...there is no chance it will happen anytime soon.

The back from Gordonsville and Manning from SC would have made one heck of a tandem. Scary how good they could have been playing same sized schools like Macon and LA who SC plays anyways.
