we know most of the skill players return...any new faces to look out for ....who will be the leader on offense and defense......

Great questions. I would like to know the answers also. Its very apparent that we lost many of our O & D lineman so hopefully we have some guys getting bigger and stepping up to take those spots. One thing we have some great depth at is the skill players and having elite talent at those spots will win us alot of games but we wont go far at all in the playoffs til we have a sufficient line.

Ive personally seen a lot of younger lineman hitting the weights hard on their own for several months now along with some younger skilled players. There's a very hard working group coming in along with some decent size.

Aren't the upcoming guys the same players who had really bad records in middle school?

As seventh graders they went 8-1 and won the quad county bowl and as eight graders they went 5-3 with a couple of those losses coming by two points and the other one a 8-0 loss to Lewis Co in overtime. There's currently 21 freshman so I can't start naming names but there's some pretty good players in the group.

What does our incoming freshmen boys look like? Whos some to watch out for down the road?

On the line you have a couple that are 6'1, 6'2  and 250+ with several others a bit smaller in height but 200+.  Skill guys have decent speed and size.  But like most freshmen, they all have to get stronger and faster but like W89 said this bunch has been working hard since winter on their own.

Looks like last year, CA won quad county bowl, whatever that is.  Looks like they blew out everyone, but wayne county, which CA beat 8-0

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
