As seventh graders they went 8-1 and won the quad county bowl and as eight graders they went 5-3 with a couple of those losses coming by two points and the other one a 8-0 loss to Lewis Co in overtime. There's currently 21 freshman so I can't start naming names but there's some pretty good players in the group.

Ah. I thought I vaguely remembered a couple of years where they had some bad years. Maybe I was mistaken. 21 freshmen is a hugeeee class.

If they don't have some quit it's looking like we're going to have close to a 70 kid roster. That's big numbers for a school with a total enrollment that averages around 350 students.

Do they have anyone in that group who stands out at the QB/RB spots?

I know there's going to be some names left out and that's why I don't like pitting them on here so sorry of I miss some but you got Owen Risner qb, Carson Ray defensive back/wide receiver, Myles Prince rb then for the line you got Colin Bratcher, Corey Mathis, Alex Byrd, and Aaron Wilson to name a few. There's no way to name them all but that's a start.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
