Obion County in NWTN.

Why does Obion County continue to struggle? They have a good middle school football program, great facilities, but yet can not seem to have a winning season. If you are local (OC or UC), please explain? Very odd.

10ft pole job.  Bowling has the best players in the county on lockdown.  You are better off where you are at.

Yeah, but.. could you not find a way to combat that behavior? They have some decent pieces. Young talent in 8th grade and the facilities are better then most.

I'm from UC and I think Obion County could have something of a resurgence in the next few years. In the last year or so they have consolidated all their middle school and youth league teams into one program. I think having your 4 feeders all playing under the same coaching staff and the same philosophies will translate into a better product when they get to high school. Quality programs aren't built in the high school but middle schools and youth leagues. I was at the NW Tenn Youth football championships and the towns that had multiple semi finalists and finalist in the tournament are some of the same ones with teams still in the HS playoffs. Your Union Citys and Milans and Martins and Dyersburgs

I am not from Obion County, but I agree. I have watched the middle school play (7th grade team last year and 8th group this year). They have a good looking group of incoming freshman. Most say that the talent travels, once they hit high school. If that is the case, they will never improve.

isn't Obion County open zone?...looks like all the athletes go to Union City and the rest go to OCHS

You know, I am not 100% sure. In other counties, they do have zones for busing purposes. If you live outside of "this" zone you pay a $50 fee, etc.

I don't think the other poster is talking about Stowe. I too hope Paul Decker gets this job if he wants it. Probably the best fit for long term stability.
