Fans are a composite of the population near the school, just that most have some emotional connection that draws them to games. I'm from a small rural farm community filled with good churchgoing people...good friends and good neighbors who will fall all over themselves to help one another when in need, and I've heard some things from them at games that would cause your jaw to drop to the floor. If you assemble 100 people, and three of them shout an obscenity at you as you pass, it would be human nature for you to think that those 100 were terrible people, and that's just not the case.

In district 15A there have been several privates over the years, and FOR THE MOST PART, they have been great opponents. In place of vulgarity, the majority of incidents have consisted of "privileged" or "entitled" youth slandering our kids on a social level...disappointing, but not the end of the world, and very few incidents involving only one school. Trinity Christian and Jackson Christian have been opponents of ours for a great while, and have been two of the most gracious host's we've visited, as well as some of the most mannerly fans...I can only hope that we've been as conscious of our actions toward them as they have to us.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
