The kids I am referring to will play football,that isn't even a question . Their parents and those kids just want to apart of a program that offers them a chance at success, or at least one trying to go in that direction. You can't blame any parent or kid for that.

 

Not that I have a dog in the fight but I would venture to say that, in the history of the programs, Clay county has been more relevant overall than Grundy. Neither one of these teams have lit the world on fire as of late but to call another team irrelevant when your own team has been less than terrific is the pot calling the kettle black. Just saying, have a little respect for other struggling programs until you at least have a reason to think you deserve a "top tier coach". The kids that want to move because of the coaching hire will more than likely quit down the road anyway no matter who is brought it. Football players play football no matter the coach that is hired in. Everybody else is dead weight and in my opinion it is better for the program if they do leave. Who ever is hired in should be given a chance. Even the best coaches have had their share of down years at certain stops. Every situation is different.

I am from Marion county actually. Kids want to be part of good programs so to say that they will quit is they go to a different one is an absurd statement. So you think it is best that the good players go ahead and quit? Lol, that's funny!!

Grundy needs a HC that is committed to building a program from the little league level to the high school. We have lost that over the last several years. Our little league is down tremendously and our middle has been except last year. We didn't even have a jv high school team. We will lose several of the middle school kids to other counties unless a coach is hired they trust and believes will stick with them for the long haul. That has already been made perfectly clear by their parents. These are kids Grundy cannot afford to lose. We'll see what happens I guess, but we don't need a coach that's going to come to help his resume or try to use it as a stepping stone. The program or what little is left will suffer even more.

Gone is the day where a coach will stick at the same school for a long period of time. Bryant was that for Grundy and they ran him off. To me, success breeds success and as long as the coach wins for three or four years that he is there, another coach can be brought in to build on that. You can't blame a coach for bettering he and his families life and we all know that teachers are well underpaid anyway.

MikeLB I agree with you on the Little League Football but don't see a true middle school program in the near future. Big 8 basketball is king of the hill for better or worse and people in Grundy Co. Would just as soon burn the county down than get rid of it.

Your uncle sounds like the real deal what state does he coach in? I'm guessing your not very close if your not sure on his total state championships.

Hope the new coach polarizes the little guys and (sic) middle school programs. Time to rise and grind Grundy County.

1. I think it was a current assistant with baseball.

2. I dont know of a middle school coach who went to sequatchie.

3.I dont guess he is because your not describing any current coach.

Who was the high school coach who should have made sure his feeder program never got so low on numbers that it had to shut down? Well it dont matter lets blame other people, thats what them boys were best at anyway.

Well my good man truth be told the numbers for that particular age group were always low even in pee-wee. That is something that the neither the best high school coach nor middle school coach can fix in a small community. No matter who gets hired at this point it won't take all that long to determine if forcing a good man out will result in a dramatic increase in wins.

 

So until then we can just sit back and watch as the truth comes to light, was this an honest attempt at taking Grundy from good to great or just another example of small town politics and corruption.

      Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.

      We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.

      Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.

      I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
