ummmmmmm NO.  Did you even read my post?

Matches at Blackman last night went as expected.  EXCEPT for the fact that EVERYONE was called for stalling......Like literally everyone....

I am bemoaning the fact that matches are not called this way by most referees during the season.  (although sometimes at the state tourney)..

I like the stalling calls....... IF the kids are used to it.  It keeps things moving and keeps the wrestlers honest. But I'd like to see all of our refs be more consistent across the board and call the matches the same.  Because its not done that way, it's a distraction to the wrestlers and a source of frustration for them because what they are doing all season long is ok until they run into certain refs who call it properly.

Stalling should be called more heavily across the board, not just if the kids are used to it. Up the action.

I agree some refs let a kid obviously stall for a whole match.  Others call it quick. Call the stalling quick make the kids wrestle. Not lay on the ground and stall out. Ive watched matches that took 3-4 times the norm because anytime a kid got caught in a move they go out of the circle. Make them wrestle and wrestle hard.

I agree more stalling needs to be called more quickly when it is actually happening, then you dont get into quick calls at the end of matches that can look inappropriate based on the entire match letting it go without a call.  Also tight waist starts seem to have become the norm as well.

I really wish empasis on agressive but smart offense was the norm, but Im not sure sometimes...

Add the push-out rule from freestyle.  Stops playing the line.

Change stalling to one point per call after the warning.  That lets the refs call it without DQ'ing a kid. Wrestling should be actively working to score unless they are overpowered. If they are overpowered, top man is stalling.  Put the focus on scoring points.

I know.  It won't happen but those are my two coppers.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
