wrestlingdad64
I just wanted to say that in the 3 years that my son has been in high school, this has been the most uninteresting year. I used to enjoy looking at the stats provided by nwcaonline and also the few folks that spent the time to give us their opinions and rank the wrestlers around the state. It really helped elevate interest given the newspaper doesn't spend much time on it here in east tennessee. To those few individuals that used give of their time and provide us with some interesting facts and opinions. I appreciated it and miss it... You do however, still have time to present us with some insight for the upcoming regional and state tournaments.

mat73557
I too miss the high school scorebook. Is there a way for Track to tell us who has the most wins or what a team's dual record is?
salterjd
Matt, great points on team records, etc... I will open a ticket with the guys and track and see if they can add some of those features. My hunch is this exist. It just hasn't been enabled. YOUTHCOACH16
Salter is correct. Track can be an incredibly useful tool but it has to be set up correctly to begin with. Its only as good as the date entered into it. I was looking at our recent match, Baylor Vs Father Ryan and about a third of the matches didn't even have the right kids listed. This same information was taken and put in the newspaper and school website. The table workers should check the names when the wrestlers check into the head table. Data entry is the key. cbg
Good quality rankings do help! IMO, one of the major problems with high school wrestling is the lack of premium dual matches. You don't have conference dual championships with packed gymnasiums anymore and this is a result of no local community schools in the large metropolitan areas. When was the last time you attended a dual match that did the following: 1. Started at 7:00pm 2. had the high school band playing before the match 3. allowed the cheerleaders the opportunity to have a short pep rally before the match 4. wrestle the match under a mat lamp 5. introduce the wrestlers with their accomplishments before the match 6. take a 10 minute intermission at the halfway point 7. have a full concession stand open IMO, it seems that if you want fans to attend the matches you must create an atmosphere where the students, parents, friends, etc... want to show up Edited January 22, 2015 by cbg
wrestlingdad64
The last time for me when I was at Brandon High School in the early 80's. It was like that for every match.

I don't agree with all those ideas but it definitely needs to be a more inviting atmosphere. I definitely like the idea of a spot light during matches. Always wanted to do this during my high school career. Also think anytime there is a finals match it should be more outgoing introductions and such. We need to do what we can as fans of the sport to help it grow. We need to hold each other accountable for improving the sport and not let it be mediocre if we ever want the sport to be competitive and exciting like up north or out in the mid west. It really got the finals hyped up. Announced parents, accomplishments, dance/cheer squad before it started, play by play, under mat light. Its on ryans website follow link on coach t to watch. It was done the way I remember from back in the day, when we all walked barefoot in 12 inches of snow to get to school. lol No band though, but they did play music through the speakers. Nice awards ceremony. They made everyone wait till the end for medals which I liked. It kept the focus on the matches. Not on the medal production. TSSA could help by expanding co-op opportunities and encouraging schools with a handful of wrestlers to join up with others in a similar position. wrestlingdad64
It would be nice if those better wrestlers on unfortunate high school teams were given an opportunity to compete in a quality dual meet against quality opponents.
