UTC cutting a program

The Chattanoogafreepress reported tonight that UTC will be cutting the Men's Cross-Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track programs to get in line with the Title IX.  This is not good for UTC or for male athletes in these programs or for the athletes in the state in high school.

 

My concern is that this does not creep closer to the wrestling program.

The just built them a new wrestling facility in McClelan gym. I think the staff is pretty behind the wrestling program.

I hope you are correct and the program is safe but thinking just because some money was recently spent guarantees it is a false sense of security. Liberty spent a ton of money, was actively recruiting , promising longevity, then in one fell moment the program is gone. Similar story at Nebraska Kernery

UTC has been very fortunate that there has been very good support among the administration and alumni. Several years back (9 or 10 years ago) they actually dropped baseball and soccer in favor of wrestling to supposedly comply with Title 9 as well. I'm surprised they still weren't completely before this recent news.

Sure they did.   UTC dropped baseball in 1982.  Not sure when they dropped soccer.
