Since I'm two for two, time for the next round.

Loretto vs Frank Hughes

Loretto won both regular season games, first by seven and the next by eleven. Loretto has the better post play in this one. Both teams have good speed. Edge goes to Loretto in shooting. I don't think Frank Hughes can put up enough points to win in which should be a low scoring game based on the other two games. Frank Hughes will get after them on defense, so as long as Loretto can handle the pressure, they will be fine. Frank Hughes has come come a long way in the last three years, starting with the other Morris and continuing with this Morris, but not further enough. (Keep in mind the talent in the district is not what it used to be). Loretto wins this one by 12.

Summertown vs Perry County

Perry County won both season games by large margins. Perry County has the experience. Summertown's youth will show in this one. Edge goes to Perry County in shooting. Summertown struggles to score. Perry County wins this one by 17.

Back to my original post and the question: When, if ever, was the last time Wayne County and Collinwood both did not make it out of the district? My guess would be that this has never happened. Would be interesting to know if someone can find out.

The brackets on coacht go back to 2006 so it would have to before then, because one or the other made the region up until then.

Well, D12 is upside down with the bottom 2 seeds battling for the championship and the top 2 seeds battling for 3rd and 4th.  Good win for Summertown Vandychris.  I was right that PC wouldn't win by 18.  We couldn't win by 1.

In D11, Mt Pleasant upset Santa Fe.

It's tournament time folks and strange things happen on any given night!!

Who would have thunk it? The bottom 2 seeds in District 12 in regular season, #5 vs #6 will play for the championship. It's been a very close played tournament with the biggest win was by 6. At least District 11(our opponents in Regionals) are either 0-20 or 1-19 vs District 12 in regular season. Not sure of the results of Richland @ Collinwood.

Well I was wrong on these two. A #5 vs a #6 in the championship. This goes back to what I have already said, this is the weakest this district has ever been. The #1 team is 23-1 going into tonight and they get beat. This has to be another history making moment. When is the last time the two bottom seeds played for the championship? I will say this, Summertown is doing it with Freshmen, so they deserve some credit for getting there. They should be tough for the next three years.

The Loretto game was strange. Cliton built the big lead early and Loretto started to chip away. Took the lead with just over a minute left-I thought it was over then. Clifton gets the lead back and then goes to the foul line with roughly 7 seconds left and misses both. Everyone in the building knew who was getting the ball. They inbound it to the guard and she then passes it to #24 who has to bring it up in traffic against a full court press, never looks at the clock or attempts a shot. I don't think I would have drawn it up that way. Was a great atmosphere. I know Clifton played them to a 5 point game at least once so I'm sure they felt like they could play with them and they were on a huge high after taking down Wayne Co. I believe the gym had a lot to do with the Perry Co loss. I heard their coach brought them in early and they stood in the middle of the court looking at the ceiling and the baskets. Being a jump shot team, they had to have been affected by depth perception. Not to take away the defensive effort of Summertown---that was impressive to hold them to 11 points for the second half and 4 for the third quarter and not fold when they got down by 7 early in the third.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
